Moyes to Sunderland

I guess we view this from a perspective of seeing him at first hand, good, bad, and ugly, for over a decade.

The outside football world/club chairmen, look at what he "Did" with Everton, and believe he can rinse and repeat with them.

I can, from their POV, how attractive that could be. The painful reality looks the polar opposite atm mind.

Either side of Everton: failed to get PNE promoted and crashed three clubs.

He either got lucky with us or he was afforded time here that he didnt get elsewhere.

I'll safely predict though that he wont manage in the top flight again.

It's all very well and good to pin all of Sunderland's problems on Moyes but it doesn't get anywhere near the route cause of the problem. The common denominator there is the players, their form falls through the floor with every manager they have eventually (Big Sam wasn't there long enough for it to happen). At what point does it stop being all the managers fault (how many have they had since they were promoted now?). Sound, sack Moyes and prolong the inevitable, they will go down sooner rather then later and with that side they will definitely struggle to come back up. Until they except that it's the players who are the problem they will never get better.

They could have given them a chance by sacking him. I'm baffled by the decision not to. Why wouldnt the owner/chairman take that step this season when they have in the past?

It's very strange.
Because Moyes was Short's 'first choice for the last 5 years' apparently.

It's all a shambles, clearly the owner is a massive, massive problem, but Moyes is an absolute cretin. I cannot wait until the day he leaves and takes his negative, arrogant, clueless ways with him.

Fans are turning now, I've never been a fan, but the fans are turning. Too late like, we are down, and most are far gone - far too apathetic to put up a fight (much of that is down to the past few years, but a hefty amount is down to that dementor Moyes.

He had a good work ethic and that reflected itself in his team at Everton. Once he got too big for his boots he lost the ability to motivate players in the same way and it's been downhill ever since.

Why you never chased him before the international break just gone I dont know. You could have had three more points from Watford by now and looking at Leicester with confidence.

Apparently our classy ex-manager has also told a woman reporter she'll get a slap if she turns up in front of him again anytime soon. The feller's lost the plot.

I honestly think he needs some time away from the sport and spotlight for the sake of his health. He has looked very poor for quite some time.

That is something you say due to pressure and lack of confidence.

The problem for Moyes is that he doesn't really have much of a constituency backing him:

People who object to what he says (and the effectively forced apology from the reporter - what else was she supposed to do if she wanted to carry on in a career?) won't like it.
People who would otherwise be all 'political correctness gone haywire' tend to have grown up in an era and background, like me, where hitting a woman - or even joking about it - would be seen as beyond the pale for anyone but a weak fool.
The Sunderland fanbase, as mentioned earlier, are not too happy about him to begin with.
The Sunderland club management are under some pressure to show that the Paolo di Canio, Margaret Byrne and Adam Johnson sagas do not typify the apparent dysfunctionality of their club.

I don't think his comments here were a threat, as is being reported - having watched it, it was clearly tongue in cheek. But has to be considered a massively stupid comment by any measure.

Could be a final nail in the coffin for him, I thought he'd do ok there, and at least get em safe, I was horribly wrong.
