Moyes to Sunderland

A deeply arrogant man, and his behaviour at Sunderland smacks of a man who wants to be sacked for the pay off.

Sack him and may he never darken our game again.

Everything he does is for David Moyes.

He'll play down expectation at every opportunity, to the detriment of the club to benefit only himself.

He's going all out the protect his CV, and ensure coverage is towards his external factors. "I feel sorry for David Moyes", will say the ignorant pundits.

As appreciative as I am to him for steadying the ship, I'm convinced he did more damage to this club than we'll ever realise.

Martinez recognised it, and it's one of the biggest challenges for Koeman - shifting the mentality away from plucky little Everton with Leon Osman and Tony Hibbert adorning the walls at Finch Farm to a club who now only can compete, should be competing.

Him getting sacked in the tunnel at Goodison lanced the boil for me

I like Sunderland, so I'd be happy to see him pull this out of the fire and keep them up

Sorry, I know it's an unpopular sentiment these days, but David Moyes actually made me want to go to watch Everton again after years of hating it

For the first time in years I was able to look up and dream instead of worrying about what was below

He gave me some semblance of self respect after years of embarrassment

Yes, he hit a glass ceiling and couldn't get past it

Yes, he over stayed his welcome

And yes, he got too big for his britches when he went to Man United, and I consequently enjoyed his demise

But despite that, I really do feel that as time goes on Moyes' tenure will be considered in a generally more positive light. Just look at where Aston Villa are right now because they didn't have a David Moyes

Yeah, we're better than being "Plucky Little Everton" these days, but there was a time when that was an upgrade over "Soon to be relegated Everton", and it's wrong to say otherwise

I do wonder if we'd have Moshiri here with a possible new stadium on the horizon if Moyes hadn't steadied the ship. In some ways, I doubt it

People are all too quick to forget how much of a dire state we were in before Moyes came in and worked with Kenwright on getting the club competitive.

I hope the board at Sunderland back him, he's a good manager.

A splendid post, GOT.

Good post, Mickey.

I would also say we are not where Villa are right now because we had a Bill Kenwright.

Unpopular sentiment among many of our friends round these parts I know, but Uncle Billy more than anyone kept us afloat and relevant in the early years of the 21st :)

History will strip out context and he'll be remembered as an Everton manager who went 10 years without a trophy.

I hope, at any point in the future - that is considered failure.

A splendid post, GOT.

Was due one...
