MOYES, YOU ARE OUT OF ORDER

When at Everton he did his best to protect our players from other bids, and he did his best to recruit the best he could afford.

Now he's at United and he's doing the same for his new employers.

Where's the contradiction in that?

The contradiction lies in the fact he called the same bid he made for Baines 'ridiculous' when he was at Everton.

Now I dont know about you, but if I'd done that I'd feel like a huge hypocrite.

Let's have it right here, the same feller who calls Everton and Everton fans 'special' deserves all the opprobrium he gets when he comes back to his old club (sorry, current club ) and attempts to asset strip on the cheap.

Sorry, apply all your business logic as much as you want, Moyes has transgressed here and there's no getting away from that.

I'm not too arsed. Its a bit sh*tho use from Moyes but our left back is boss so it won't be the last enquiry. There's a simple solution to it though; we should tell everyone who bids for him to do one. He's local and boss so we should serve selling him.

On this occasion that's what we've done. I bet the 'honourable' Moyes who'd have been screaming blue murder if another club hadn't left it like that and took the message when he was in charge will go in with another bid though.

I thought Fellaini, yeah, because he's half way out the door and under no real control by us given his contract. If he coughed up the going rate, no problem. But coming in for Baines is a shocker, tbf.

Exactly, take a leaf out of Levy 's book at Spurs and tell all to F off ! Then Baines had to play up and I'm not sure he would do that.

On Moyes the only thing he's done wrong is bid a ridiculous fee and I doubt he was in charge of that. Of course he wants Baines, most clubs do.

Depends what your stance on Moyes was mate. I'm not too shocked by it as he's a company man. Could be levelled at us with Alcatraz and Lone apparently in our sights. I'd have thought Moyes would swerve Baines but the balls in our court so entirely down to them who call the shots to do the right thing. Can't say I hold much hope mind.

But Baines was always a united target. Moyes could hardly say he didn't fancy him, or say to his new bosses that he'd rather not upset Everton.

I agree that he'll probably go because our board is soft as sh1te

Moyes is the man in control, there's no director of football or such or he wouldn't have took the job. The bid for Baines and subsequent leaking of the press is under his control. A sh*thouse trick but when we have boss players it's gonna happen. F*cks me off as were better than a feeder club to United but what can we do? Well, apart from telling them to do one and save us having to reject any future offers that they bid for Baines. The denim jacket moustached ear ring wearing smelly quilts.

Oh Baines is defo gone now, yeah.

The Kone deal isn't the same though: they are open to it (want it, in fact) and we'll pay, no doubt, what Whelan wants in the end (and Alacaraz is free in any case).

On Baines: I dont think that low bid can be played down though. Six weeks ago Moyes was here walking round that pitch soaking the applause up and now he's basically ignored the wishes of the club he was with 11 years, 'the special cub with special fans', to put in an insulting offer like that. And I dont buy for a second the argument that he hasn't had the crucial input in that, that's just nonsensical, IMO.

If that feller wants to do what he said when he left - that it's important he can return without feeling bad or getting stick - then he needs to stop arsing around with this, and the inevitable next bid must be £20M or £15-18M + player. (and a decent one at that).

Everton don,t have to sell do they unless they need the dough....oh who would have though that eh.

I,d be more concerned with what we buy.........

I doubt that he told them how much to bid personally. He may have said he wants the player and what he thinks they should pay up to, but he isn't going to be involved with the actual negotiations. I think the cash plus player deal is the most likely scenario if the deal happens to be honest.

Selling Baines will wreck that team, that's the biggest worry we have. On top of Fellaini going (which he will) this is going to be a poor platform for the new manager to build from compared to what it should have been...and some will expect a 5th/6th place finish. Time for those expectations to take a severe haircut.

Quality!

I still think SAF pulls the strings there but take your point. I just hope we hold out for big money, no player deals as they will only be sh1t fringe players.

Over to you Roberto, no pressure !

My point is that he knows what he said whilst at Everton about transfer dealings in general ('no one goes cheaply') and in particular with Baines (£12M 'is ridiculous') to know that being part (and a huge part) in proffering a derisory amount like that for a player he's been told hands off for is an insult.

You could argue the converse though Dave. As despite the fact that given the choice we'd not want to lose either player, both going would provide the manager with a hefty war chest to build his own side at Goodison, if they both stay, then his budget will no doubt be the usual pittance & so he'll find it hard to make any significant change.

But you're assuming that he asked them to make a £12m bid. More likely he's said I want baines, he's worth £20m, and then his boss has said, 'fine, we'll take it from here.'
All speculation obviously but why assume the worst?!
