I miss the days when being a football fan didn't mean you needed to be a financial expert.

Oh yes.

Those days when the only time you could hold the owners accountable is when they've finally fleeced and liquidated a club?

Please define holding the club accountable, has anything changed? In fact I would more than likely say at every step of the way the fan influence has been an act of self harm. All we've gained is a bad reputation. Potential players, owners, investors or financial institutions set to lend us money have all probably had second thoughts due to the appearance of a club in meltdown. Now this is not all squarely on the fans as some of the stunts the club pulled amplified the noise.

What I'm saying is if we had the information we used to get (pre internet days) we would have been none the wiser and it would have increased the liklihood of pulling ourselves out of this mess rather than spiraling out of control.

There were protests under Johnson before the internet (as we have it now) organised by fans based on the information they were getting from insiders at the club. These things get out when they're staring into the abyss

We'd be at Tesco-Dome if it wasn't for the information gathered from the internet by fans and the protest against that.

The fans don't make owners take secret loans out against the club that stops certain members of the board staying and not allowing controlling investment.

Personally feel that allowing fans to turn into wannabe accountants based on information they can readily find is the only way to poise questions on how the club is ran.

I get what you are saying but the mud didn't stick back then due to no round the clock coverage, clickbate headlines and we were looked upon more favorably as one of the big institutions.

The fans did not stop Kirkby, the government did saying it would cause considerable harm to the town centre.

If you meant the City then that was the main concern. Taking the money out of Liverpool City Council into Knowsley.

The idea that it would damage Kirkby's retailers and harm is laughable as the council spent decades damaging that themselves by investing zero in it.

There's a huge Morrisons there now.

And the fans played a part in pulling up how inadequate the whole proposal was

For those of you worried about the ( very real ) existential threat to the future of Everton - yes I'm talking about you @matty1878 - remember " it is always darkest before the dawn" . Everton will rise again. You all know this to be true. We just need to see the back of Moshiri and Kenwright and hope that we will become the next mega rich plaything.
