I suspect they do but PL football is essentialI also don't disagree with that part of your assessment. I've been saying for years that the whole stadium financial plan is complete smoke and mirrors and have been castigated for it several times..... most (including myself to some degree) have happily turned a blind eye to it because the general concensus was that it was primarily underpinned by a naming rights deal that could've theoretically been almost anything for USM to cover. Thus covering any financial shortfall and balancing the viability equation. Of course that is no longer the case and has now all come home to roost..... which combined with the increased costs, calamitous on-field performance and loss of that backer is something of a perfect storm. Of course, while on-field and infrastructure investment are fundamentally separate financial systems they are also inextricably linked, especially when overall resources become finite and/or subject to legislation. So, I think the great hope now is probably that any "new stadium effect" can package the club to appeal to someone with much deeper pockets to absorb those debts. MSP only appear to me to be a short/medium term solution to get past the first hurdle in that process.... while hopefully injecting some expertise into a very highly paid, but entirely unqualified boardroom. I could be wrong and MSP may have greater long term ambitions
Youth system - arguably / potentially be an incentive for youngsters with other options.Honestly can’t see why people are so excited for a new ground. What is a new ground going to do to our youth system? Scouts? Coaches? Manager? Players? Board room? Debt? Nothing is that what we’ve been missing the last 28 years a new stadium? No wonder we haven’t won anything why didn’t we think of that sooner.
Cos Goodison a s hole of a ground with loads pillar blocking views and only 9 boxes.Honestly can’t see why people are so excited for a new ground. Great ambience from the sewage treatment works next door for the tourists as wellThe new stadium is a big deal, apart from the football I expect it will also offer lots of other non football income streams like concerts, conferences and given it's location it is likely to draw lots of visiting tourists.
Of course a half decent team would hugely assist in marketing the facility.
Thought we were moving further away from Anfield?Great ambience from the sewage treatment works next door for the tourists as well![]()

Agree but I’d rather watch Everton in the premier league at goodison than in the championship in a new stadium the footballs what matters couldn’t care if we played at Sefton park every week and if getting a pint quicker is in your top 3 things for a new stadium I’d suggest watching in the pub somewhereCos Goodison a s hole of a ground with loads pillar blocking views and only 9 boxes.
The Everton Staduim will get more fans in, more money better facilities.
You queue for a beer at half time and miss most of the 2nd half
Yes a new stadium was needed to get in line with modern day football but what I’m saying is it doesn’t bother/excite me the prospect of a new stadium if we’re the same crap club playing on different grass with different surroundings all the same if the boards pathetic attempt at running a business and players not fit to wear the shirt with however many more managers we’re going to go through plus young players wanting to move on, ie Gordon although I was happy he went price moving on price leaving maybe not good enough anyway who knows smalls went and I have a feeling branthwaite will be gone in the summer too.Youth system - arguably / potentially be an incentive for youngsters with other options.
Scouts - no sure why they would be relevant. Besides not sure the scouting is too much of an issue, it’s the selection of available players that’s the problem and scouts don’t sing the players
Coaches - loads more parking at BMD
Manager - arguably / potentially be an incentive for signing better ones.
Players - arguably / potentially be an incentive for signing better ones.
Let’s be honest, Goodison is a bit of dump unless your are a fan of a certain age with a yearning for past glories.
Boardroom - hopefully new stadium make us more successful and therefore more attractive to being bought and getting rid of the current mob.
Debt - increased revenue making debit more manageable.
Main thing is why is it presumed the stadium is instead of any of the stuff we all really want like success, rather than as well / an enabling mechanism?
Did you ever hear of a full stop ?Yes a new stadium was needed to get in line with modern day football but what I’m saying is it doesn’t bother/excite me the prospect of a new stadium if we’re the same crap club playing on different grass with different surroundings all the same if the boards pathetic attempt at running a business and players not fit to wear the shirt with however many more managers we’re going to go through plus young players wanting to move on, ie Gordon although I was happy he went price moving on price leaving maybe not good enough anyway who knows smalls went and I have a feeling branthwaite will be gone in the summer too.
A what?Did you ever hear of a full stop ?
We need the new ground to stop us falling even further behind than we already are. It’s not a given we’ll be playing Championship football next season any more than PL, we can’t just wait till we’re suddenly a competitive, competent, trophy winning club again to move grounds, it’ll be too lateAgree but I’d rather watch Everton in the premier league at goodison than in the championship in a new stadium the footballs what matters couldn’t care if we played at Sefton park every week and if getting a pint quicker is in your top 3 things for a new stadium I’d suggest watching in the pub somewhere![]()
I know I get that just wish other things was in place first the state we’re in kind of ruins the prospect of a new ground as good as it looks, just be nice to see some decent football played in it who knows Maybe we will isn’t great we need investment to finish it tho unless that means kenwright and others move onWe need the new ground to stop us falling even further behind than we already are.
