Its not that easy tho - Leicester won a League Title & FA Cup and look at their finances. How do you see EFC doing this without massive investment on quality players to jump up the table ?

City/Newcastle are the only way forward - artificially inflation of sponsers hence why we need to hold firm with Moshiri until a mega power comes sniffing or someone with rich friends like Mosh/Uz who can do similiar.
Commercial performance ≠ sporting performance. You can only achieve long term sporting performance with sustainable commercial performance. We literally tried the "spend loads of money on players and hope commercial performance follows" and were one goal away from relegation. It doesn't work like that.

As for your second point - who are these people currently bidding to take over Everton who will do this for us? I'd love to know. I'm sure Moshiri would too.

And how long are MSP going to hold onto us for ?

Glazers/FSG/Kroenke are in it for the long haul I see no reason whilst MSP wont be also.

The question is will the Goodison faithful be happy for midtable football and limited spend after years of steak under Moshiri in terms of investment ?

I think we both know the answer to that one !!

Difference between a club like Everton and the RS, Arsenal, United is that...the commercial/monetary value of those clubs was already established. They were already big names playing in the big competitions at the top end of the league. They've just creamed it.

We are not. And it's arguably the biggest club on their books, in the biggest money maker league in the sport.

To me, they'll have to have to inject some funds into the squad to increase performance and value.

And I'm not talking loads because they won't do that.

And what nation state and/or multi-billionare is bidding for us right now?

This is my point - we can't achieve what you're describing until the club is in a better state on and off the pitch. No nation state is going to buy a club that was one great Jordan Pickford save away from relegation and potentially administration.
Well indeed, thats why we have some Yank clowns bidding for us.

My only point was its very easy to do if the desire is there and yes, only people like Oil states and crazy Russian oligarchs do such things.

Exactly - if we had an option between a nation state rocking up with dodgy sponsorship deals and MSP, I'd choose the nation state every day of the week. But beggars can't be choosers.

There is so much to dislike about this whole thing.

But these people wont be getting us in strife regarding FFP and they wont be wasting vast sums on utter garbage, you would assume.

Hold their beer, but it would probably take a great deal of effort to do a worse job than the current Everton set up has done.

It's a measure of the awful position we are in. I just want owners who will give us competence, that's literally all I ask. This lot are the most incompetent clowns ever assembled.

See where you're coming from but we have tried spending big, maybe we should be more buying wise. I have never been happy with the big guns cast offs, though Garner looks promising, they come most of the time with attitude, the big time Charlie. Possibly look at the Brighton model, buy young cheap sell dear, get our finances in order and build. Stop changing managers every year and let's get solid foundations. Get away from being chop/ change relegation strugglers that we have become. It's almost impossible to be a City of Chelsea model, which is what you continually strive for, ffp has been tailor made to stop this, let's see who Newcastle buy this year, they had tight years with Ashley in charge which ironically is standing them in good stead with ffp. It's more important you get you're recruitment right and have a solid, strong dynamic Chairman / CEO and board in charge running things correctly, which right now, we definitely have not.

Would you rather be able to spend wisely with a £80m+ budget like Newcastle/Villa or a £30m one like Palace/Southampton ?

We did the latter under the Kenwright/Moyes years and we were never happy so what makes you think the fans will be happy doing it under MSP long term ?

I see nothing to be excited about - we're moving the deck chairs on the midtable titanic.

Jesus, first and foremost there was NO £30m budget with Kenwright in charge, it was sell to buy end of. And it would be lovely to have an £80m budget but what part of FFP can't you get, it's wages and sustainability, you know what you're genius Denise Barren Baxendale helped bring in, we can't spend it even if we had it. And we've tried that and spent it on poor players under Moshiri. It's recruitment we need to get right.

It would be mad for any investor to come in and not demand massive changes to the board / senior club management because, no matter what their plans are, the only way they’ll improve things is, as you say, to manage the business better while delivering just enough for the manager to keep us in the PL until BMD starts increasing our revenues.

The most obvious, quickly realisable assets are the players, but just getting rid of the massively overpaid dead wood would do more to help balance the books than selling the likes of Onana and Pickford for what would be relatively small sums in the bigger picture.

The problem is, nobody wants to buy the deadwood.

Exactly mate, they have one of three immediate options:

1) Raise funds through player sales.
2) Invest cash into the business to cover our losses.
3) Raise debt.

I don't think they have cash.
In terms of raising debt, I'm not sure they would want to raise debt to pay for players, when the stadium needs to be paid for.

Depends on how successful they are in achieving their goals and how much pressure is applied by the investment funders.

Also I think your average Evertonian would welcome a bit of stability and gradual growth. We’ve all seen that flashing the cash does not automatically guarantee success.

The entitlement in here does my head in. It's a miracle anyone wants to invest in this gong show of a club and yet there's page after page of complaining about how MSP aren't good enough, etc.

OK well have fun opening the new gaff against Plymouth Argyle. If it finishes being built that is.
