I would love nothing more than to see every gulf state, billionaire and offshore tax haven businessman bugger off tomorrow mate and have football go back to what it should be, but thats never going to happen sadly.

Fans are at a cross road where they have to acknowledge that they either accept the corruption and filth swilling around football through gritted teeth or leave the sport on moral grounds and have no part to play in it.

If Bahrain/Qatar/Kuwait etc bought us tomorrow I would be buzzing because it means I might finally get to see us win something. I would detest what the owners stand for, but with the game as it is you have to seperate the ownership from the club because unfortunately these corrupt governments like China, Saudi, USA etc. have/are monopolising sport, entertainment, technology.
Absolutely not a given that would happen

Bahrain are alright mate.

Us Brits aint squeeky clean when it comes to how we treat those overseas / our own people.

Lets not get into our lovable US investors who live in a country where blowing kids heads off in schools with assault rifles is a monthly occurrence.

So you haven't of the Sunni-minority treat the Shia-majority???

I just think that if we are gonna start throwing stones, we should probably check how much glass our own house has first.

Im very open, I would have a General who ran his own private army of Child Soldiers in charge of the club as long as they bought us a big sexy number 9 who shot us to the CL.
Does the number 9 have to be sexy?

Or would an ugly bugger with bandy legs and a wart on the end of his nose do ?

As has been said previously no owners are going to be squeaky clean….some have all directly or indirectly exercised control via soft or hard power. There are levels however, and it’s whether a supporter values a competitive football club with the prospect of winning things, over a company or state who exercise abhorrent practices or whether the supporter is happy to have a club perform to its natural level without the support of immoral/amoral financial backing.

Personally, upon reflection I think 15-20 years ago, I would have wanted success at all costs, but with age, my conscience no longer allows that. I would rather us be backed by a genuine source of funding that does not have an appalling human rights record. If we are unsuccessful then so be it but let’s not kid ourselves….the majority of any money behind any football club has a stink of unsavoury practices behind it.

There's one thing for certain that if the Bahrain lot took us over it would be the first takeover to get blocked because of an improper owner despite all the other dodgy owners swanning around football at the moment. I'm not saying I'd like them to take us over as I think it's time that money shouldn't be the factor on whether a new owner is suitable or not.

Usmanov has tons of money and although less so does Moshiri. Look how that turned out

Er, aren't you kinda contradicting yourself here?

You speak with righteous indignation about the UAE for City, Qatar for the manner in which they built the World Cup stadia and football club owning Americans, and claim (indirectly) that all billionaires are crooks and thugs...

yet you don't care who owns Everton as long as we're successful ??

Anybody on here got a phone number for Gaddafi, Pol Pot, or Papa Doc ?
Think you might need more than a phone there, try a medium
