Joe Cole on a free probably picked up £3m signing on fee. He got £5m when the RS signed him on a 'free'.

£4m is peanuts, should just pay it up front and be done with it.
Also a good point.

New television money means the market is totally out of whack right now as well. Once this money is all spent it may settle down, but £4 million is pretty close to as cheap as you can get for someone to come in a do a job for a team in Everton's position these days.

If the hold ups between his current club and his former club why should we pay more money for him? His current club have supposedly accepted our offer, there now trying to negotiate how much his original club recieve not the deal Everton have offered them.

Where the source for this? I'm at work and I've not read through the thread.

I think the simple answer to why noone bigger has moved for besic is the same as why not a signle person on the site was calling for him pre world cup.

They may not have heard of him!

And now they have a few games to go on as the lad is or has been on holiday since and even for the low price you want to be sure of the money signing you a decent player for the squad at least.

Perhaps only us are in for him and the media has threw swansea and west ham into the mix also to make the transfer more exciting?

The fact of the matter is he is a player no-one had even considered signing and now its the whole legal mumbo jumbo with fees owed etc that is holding us up.

And the reason why only talk sport has mentioned it is because they will say anything and everyhting they can if there is an ounce of truth in it to gain listeners. So a bullseye on a story is what they are looking for and perhaps the news they had was that we were only club talking about him, with martinez knowing who he is already.

Waaa waa waa, why hasn't he signed? Waa waa waa, Everton are rubbish. Waa waa waa, I'm an impatient immature meff. Waa waa waa I need to get a life. Waa waa waa.

Get a grip FFS.

No.

It is.

If it isn't, we need to shut up shop and go to the Championship. Simple things like inflation. And footballer prices/wages are inflating very quickly. We can't change the market, we have to move with it. £4 million is simply peanuts in top flight football for an intended first teamer. The alternative is to pick up the likes of Joe Cole on a free.
Are you having a laugh ?

There is a reason why our club look to loan a player before buying. For how many years have we loaned a player before buying at the end of the loan ? We do that because we simply cannot risk spending money on players willy nilly. The loan is the security blanket, a test drive if you will.

4 million should be peanuts, i agree but to our club it isn't. We have to sell before we buy a player for any substantial value.

You let the board off easily with this.

We should have a positive net spend of more than £25 million this summer. If £4 million is too much this summer, we should be marching in the streets and rioting until the board sell up.

By expecting that £4 million is too much, you assist to create the malaise that these are just the way that things are, Everton innit, and nothing changes.

£4 million IS peanuts to any Premier League team for a first teamer (please note, I'm not expecting us to start spending wildly every summer, nor do I think that it is a wise course of action to do so). If they fail to see it that way, then they are destined not to be a Premier League team for long.

All this uproar because a player hasn't signed yet, love to know the source of this refusal to pay £4 million up front it's being taken for granted as being fact.
On the flip side someone has posted that the reason for the delay lies between his current and former club, yet this is questioned along with the posters source.
Who knows ? Not me and am in the same boat as the majority who've posted in this thread.

Here's a thought, why not wait and see how it pans out before making daft statements that are based on nothing but impatience and twitter......

His agent's name is Attila-- we are doomed

I did read your post but this highlighted part pretty much sums it up really doesn't it ?

Typical Everton this, doomed to a period of mediocrity if there isn't a big shake up. Things need to change. It's the same story every year, very frustrating.
