So its surely doubly hard for players from lower leagues. I havent seen enough from him to think he would ever be on the level of McCarthy let alone Arteta or Fellaini.

I don't think theres an intelligent rationale in making comparisons with other midfield players when, after all, the lad's only played six games. Some people on here were dubious about McCarthy when he came from Wigan....you know the rest.

Disagree with you as well.

I've been impressed with Besic so far. The worrying thing about him is that he sometimes takes a risk with a drag back or turn with players around him when we don't have much cover, but he's only been caught out once. That was a suicidal flick in the Chelsea game which was clearly a mistake.

I've noticed that Besic is not going to be the type of player who is a box to box midfielder who will score goals, and play through balls. However, he seems to be very good at keeping things simple, he can get stuck in, and has a burst of pace along with decent skill, turning out of trouble. He won't suit every type of game but I think he has the potential to become one of our most important players in the next few seasons.

I think some people sometimes expect too much of certain players too. They are all different. Mirallas is a fanny (except for the derby games) who is capable of wonder goals and running at players. Barkley can run at players and score screamers as well. Both have way more match winning ability than Besic and McCarthy but those two are different types of players who are likely to give more consistent performances and contribute in other ways.
He's definitely not a box to box midfielder but with that's not asked of him the way we play. His distribution from deep is very good but like McCarthy and Barry will never be a goal threat.

I don't care what anyone says. Besic needs to drastically improve.

He doesn't have the things like Naismith have in his locker (like slotting).

So Besic needs to learn to stop giving the ball away and doing stupid things with it and to tackle more like McCarthy and not like Paul Scholes.

I suppose we should count our blessings on somethings. At least he's not a 20 stone overweight midfielder like @MoutsGoat

Bešić will turn out to be a very good player for us. More experiences in the premier league will do him no end of good. The only reason McCarthy is further on in ability is because he has nearly 200 games of top flight football under his belt to Bešić's 10 or so appearances for us.

Naismith is a forward, Besic is a holding midfielder.

It's stupid comparing the two

Why do people keep putting players down not even six months into their everton careers...besic, gibson, fellaini, mccarthy and the list goes on. It's just stupid.

He obivously has some quality about him...he just needs to settle into the side, play a few games and get some consistency.
