To be fair the lad has been playing centre half in the Hungarian league, so he's a different player to Osman. He's shown potential but we need to sort a proper position for him.

Lad is class. Besic next to Barkley next season and just let those two get on with it. QPR at home was the best football I saw all last season. Two midfielders just playing box to box in a two pressing high, tracking runners, and assisting attacks, how a midfield should be none of this rubbish where you have a shielding DM next to a holding DM behind this elusive 'number 10' who never even sees the ball.

I'f turn up to watch Bedic and Barkley or Gibson and Barkley every day of the week. Barry and McCarthy are s cure for insomnia.

Would love us to play 4-3-3 next season.

Robles
Coleman - Jags - Stones - Baines
McCarthy
Besic - Barkley
Mirallas --------------Gezza
Lukaku

There is every chance this is because QPR were the worst side we faced mind. Those two against Chelsea and I'd be worried.

At 22 Osman was on loan at Carlisle United in the 3rd Division.

Not playing in the Premier League, Europa League and the World Cup.

So yeah, totally different player to Osman.

20 Full International caps - including appearances in a world cup, no less - for starters.

Mate if Osman was from Bosnia he'd have had 40 caps by now.

I appreciate he's young and does a cute turn. My point is he's nowhere near the starting 11 and, in my opinion, hasn't shown anything yet.

Edit - to poster above - I don't see how anyone can be judged on a game against QPR :)

Yep against a lower league team at home in the cup I'd agree with you.

Anyone else and we'd be 3-0 down inside half an hour.

Why compare osman to Besic anyway? Different types of midfielder.

When has osman put as tackle in, or stayed on his feet at the park end when someone's farted at the street end?

It took osman time to break into the first team. You wouldn't have got thrippence ha'penny & a toy windmill for him at 22. Osman would never ever have trumped someone of nicky butt's calibre - nevermind messi's - at that age, like Besic did messi.

IMO osman's had about as many worthwhile performances in his entire career for us as Besic has had starts for us.

We're all entitled to opinions mate :)

I'm not saying Besic is rubbish or that he won't turn out half decent. I just don't see anything to date to warrant the Soccer AM style fanboy attitude from some.

I hope he turns out well of course but I fancy he'll be off to a second tier German side within 18 months.

Well what are you saying? He's more than capable of holding his own in the first team.....for a long time

I think he's an interesting squad player we picked up relatively cheaply. I think he needs to improve a bit to justify his place on the bench every week.

I just don't get the fans that think he's anything special - yet.

Fairy nuff.....Took me a good while to see what it was about McCarthy. Besic is more my idea of a midfield lynchpin in terms of his all-round play than both Barry & McCarthy.

Am still fairly certain will be looking at this next season.
