He hasn't returned to full training yet, and he'll have zero match fitness.

Given we don't have any cup games, so no real reason to rotate, I imagine he'll be eased back in around April time - depending on injuries obviously.

What Dave is also choosing to neglect is that Schneiderlin is miles better than any of our other CMs on the ball and we now actually have a player capable of dictating our play from deep.

Yeah, I've heard it, too. When summer comes and we have to sell someone to facilitate buying the players we need, who else are we going to sell? I like him, but if Newcastle is going to offer 20M for him, he should move as it would enable us to buy a CB, another attacker, etc.

If we sell him it'll be because he wants guaranteed first-team football.

But I honestly think Koeman sees him as part of his plan - purely as when he's been fit McCarthy has stepped up to the plate and resembled the player he did in 2013/14

I do think Koeman rates Besic, based off pre-season at the least where he had a lot of minutes.

Tough in the tackle, good on the ball, not exactly slow either.

I would expect that he is still months away from playing and that it will be next season before we see him play again.
It is still only five and a half months post operation and the recovery from a cruciate operation is much longer than that to get back actually playing competitive football.
