Naismith? Thoughts?

I'm preparing for a backlash here but I thought Naismith was alright last night. He worked hard when he didn't have the ball, he was one of the few players who were always trying to go forward as opposed to sideways/backwards. And was happy to track back and help defend when needed.

Ok his first touch isn't amazing but I think he gets so much unwarranted stick.

Id save your money if you go the match and think Naismith can play football.

I also thought he was fine last night, but he's technically very poor in my opinion and isn't anywhere near Premiership standard in that aspect. What he is good for is putting himself about, going in for headers and putting his body in there for tackles. He did that well on several occasions last night.

For me he should be a sub and brought on to help us see out games (not to be confused with bringing him on for Mirallas when we're drawing or one nil up aftert 60 minutes). I'd also have no problem with him starting against much poorer teams at home, but never on the wing. He seems to have a good attitude.

We desperately need a good striker thought as I can't imagine Naismith will score more than about 4/5 goals this season.

Excellent work ethic.
Not shy of a tackle and gets stuck in.
Closed down the opposition well at both ends of the park.
Looked for the pass and attempted to make space for others.
Movement off the ball seemed fine.
Attitude for me is one of our best.

Needs work on his first touch.

Other than that I don't know what half of you lot are on about.

He was free wasn't he?

Runs aimlessly around a lot
Dives into tackles and misses a lot, fouls opposition quite often
Chases round after the ball a lot never getting near it
Has no instinct and has to think about passing, then fails to make the right choice and gives it away, moves out of the way of players who can play football, often into the space they want to pass to or run into
Never gets passed to as the rest of the team knows hes gash so never has the ball
Cant believe hes playing at this standard not league 1 so has a great positive attitude

Needs to have a word with the surgeon asking for his hooves to be replaced by feet

Just my take on all your points mate

I appreciate he is a long way off being our best footballer, just feel he contributes something others don't (or rather didn't last night).

I have seen him play an awful lot worse for us so was at the very least pleased to see an improvement. That he is improving and moving in the right direction gives me hope.

He is a player i would like to succeed.

Love an underdog me.

I also appreciate many of you probably have a better understanding of the game than me and we all see things slightly differently, just think some of the necessary critical remarks aren't just putting the dagger in but twisting it too.

Turbo gash.

He'll be credited with an assist last night, purely because his first touch is so poor, his control on the thigh hit his need and rebounded 5 yards away, straight to Fellaini.

He seems like a nice enough lad but he's just not good enough.

Actually he had 2 assists against Stevenage.

lmfao

He is an absolutely turgid footballer who should be getting zero minutes on the pitch for any team with serious aspirations of getting into Europe.

He was like this last year, and shockingly enough, nothing's changed.

"B-b-b-b-but he's a nice guy!" Cool story. He's garbage.
