I've said on multiple occasions that I think he has something to offer. He's just in need of going out to another club to learn how to defend.
The hype around him has cushioned him from that critique. The lad has a major defensive error in him for most games he plays in and he's offering f.a. going forward to compensate. Yes, he had a good derby. But that's about it.
Not good enough so far, and everyone knows it deep down. As the manager said yesterday: he needs to work on things.
Which Everton player does this not apply to?

I am maybe naive but I just want to see him being praised or criticised when it is fair, excellent going forward, great defensively, perhaps rushed back into the team too soon and isn't back up to speed.
He has only just turned 21, the criticism on him on here seems unfair and is not the same levelled at other young or established players, which seems to be generated because he used to play for another team in another country for a team they dislike as their 2nd team is their rivals.
I am Scottish, the bigotry on both sides i might add is disgusting and has no place in modern society and defintely not on here, his former team is irrelevant, criticise him fairly, that's all i would say and leave the Rangers/Celtic guff to Scotland, not an English team!!!
I will also add he got picked for scotland and went to a euros at 19, won a league title at Rangers and has never been on a losing team for Scotland or Rangers, has an assist in nearly every scotland game, has never lost to Celtic and is defensively sound for Scotland and Rangers, sure he has made a few mistakes recently but he can defend, otherwise he wouldn't be in the Scotland or Everton team.
