2022/23 Nathan Patterson

I had a slight epiphany after a few rums recently.

Is it possible that the fact our injuries are concentrated at full back is down to something specific - training ground, pitch, methods?

It just seems more than bad luck that not only ALL our full backs are injured, but also anyone that can even fill in there.

Anyway, just a thought. Like I said, rum was involved...
Mattresses....

He's a better defender than Patterson, for sure.

We'll need a new RB next season. No queston about that.

Yep, we need to be more professional in our preparation next season and bring in reliable solid players. We can't keep relying on Séamus Colemans' immortality, and, as much as I like the lad, Nathan Patterson, who appears to be turning into the Fabian Delph of fullbacks, injury-wise. Our right back position needs to be properly addressed and sorted out once and for all... along with our left back and centre forward positions.

….I’m on record as saying the pitches at FF are much too firm for my liking but I don’t think that’s the issue with Patterson. Might be more about his body position going into challenges, leaving both feet fixed, unbalanced and open to contact causing joint damage. The pitches these days are unforgiving.

You seem so educated I’m sure you can put the full stops in for yourself. Well no he doesn’t pick himself and I’m sure he wants to play but he wasn’t prepared for first team football in the premier league, and we can’t/couldn’t afford to rely on a young lad with no senior football experience to come in and start every week and he’s cost us goals this season as have a lot of other players who also aren’t good enough.

This is why, as fan base, we can be embarrassing at times. So a young lad comes into a struggling squad and your reaction is ‘he is crap’.

Seriously, I think you need to evaluate your outlook. He has only played 19 times. Suppose you wanted instant world class. So with your magic who should we buy, for a similar price, who will be a world force next season?

Or is it easier to whine about things?

I’ve seen some hot takes on here but people stating that JJ Kenny is a better rb/rwb than Patterson has absolutely finished me! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Silly season has never really stopped here has it - absolute laughing stock statement.

Have you reasons for disliking a player, no matter how bigoted, I can understand that small mindedness, but don’t chat wham - you simply invalidate any point you’re trying to make.

Hope pato and his flute are back fit for Bournemouth.

Hahahaha you what
I've seen Patterson personally responsible for handfuls of goals in the games he played this season. Chelsea home, Leeds away, Wolves home, Forest home, Brentford away, City home.

That lad needs to learn how to defend...and that's apart from his unreliability...3 major injuries before he's 22. That is a massive concern. In fact, maybe the two are linked. If he learns to postion himself more intelligently he's not twisting and turning to recover and jarring knees and stretching hamstrings.

You’ve just made up a load of goals that he was “responsible” for though. I could do the same with Kenny. In fact I don’t need to, he was just proven one of the worst players I’ve ever seen wear the shirt. Nearly single handedly sent us down by getting skinned alive all game by Charlie Taylor at Burnley last season. You can dislike Patterson for playing for Rangers all you want without saying ridiculous things like Kenny is better in any way shape or form.

No, I didn't.

Go and take a look at examples like him deserting his position to allow Mount to score in our first home game, how he turned his back on Johnson against Forest at home and left him to coast in and score; how he did exactly the same thing far post against Leeds away.

He cost us at least 10 points. It's nearly killed us and it still may have done.

But the biggest concern is that no one in this fanbase could ever say he's a better choice at RB than a 35 year old Coleman on the downside of his career...he's still head and shoulders above Patterson. That is the truth of the matter.

Look, if he's a player it needs to come out next season...but we cant afford that to be here with us. He;s too costly.

Next season we need Coleman as a back up and we should go out and get Livremento off S'ton.
