If we are going down the route of having limited possession, like v Bournemouth on the last day. Or letting Brentford have 80% in the 2nd half as we hang on to 1-0. Then Coleman is a better fit, but that style with have us fighting relegation every year.

If we want to improve and kick on as forward thinking team, then Patterson should play.

You must be kidding. Take a look at Everton's first half performance against Leicester when Coleman was the main attacking threat for us. Also, we remain in the PL because of Coleman going onm a solo run that ends up with him scoring against Leeds.

You've got that arse about face. Benitez and Lampard started him over Patterson and only recovery from an operation last summer meant that Lampard didn't start him from the off last season. Once Dyche was here Coleman started and never left the starting line up until injury.

Let's see who Dyche starts next season. It will be Coleman.

Is up for both to fight for it in pre season whoever is looking better should start. Most positions in this team everyone should fight nobody should expect to start

20 starts for Coleman only stopped by a couple of sub appearances when he was still covering frokm niggles and when he was stretchered off against Leicester.

You'll see in August who the starting RB for this club is still.

Leeds goal was a fluke and go back 5yrs and you can pick out 1/2 good attacking performances a season. Says it all about Coleman’s footballing ability. Which has always been limited. Speed and fitness helped him from that point of view years ago. But most of his final balls/crosses were hit and hope. Coleman has been part of a group of players over the last 5 years, who are better without the ball.

Well from the graphic, even highlighted them for you just to make it easier, when Patterson has been in the squad Coleman has started over him only 4 times, whereas Patterson has started over Coleman in the squad 10 times. The "20 starts for Coleman" has nothing to do with my original post and is just about their respective injury woes.

Thus confirming my original post:

Is that why when both of them have been fit Patterson has started???
