Patterson, Onana and Garner are the recruitment model we need to follow, talent or n the verge of breaking through at their club bought before they do so.

Think the lad we trued hard for at Ajax is similar in that regard, so hopefully revisit that one.

By the end of the season all three could see their effective worth increased hugely and it's how we need to recruit going forward.

As a fellow Scot, it feels like 1990s Scotland all over again.

Quality all over the pitch, except Gordon Durie up front.

We’ve got good quality in most positions, up front and centre halves being the weakest areas of the team. And a manager who doesn’t know what the best formation is to get the best out of a very decent squad. Similar to Everton, we need to ditch the back 3/5 and go to a back 4, preferably a 4/4/1/1. Amazingly lots of people in football still haven’t come to the realisation that the best way to protect the centre halves is to keep possession, not by putting on another centre halve, ie getting the midfield right in terms of balance and numbers. Clarke can’t seem to put out a balanced team with the right qualities and numbers in midfield and we are underperforming because of it.

When he crosses the ball well he crosses it very, very well. He is prone to his fair share of mis-hit crosses too. He's just caught in a mini spell of mis-hit crosses in his early career with us. They will improve. I have no doubt.

You never said he was crap iirc. You said he was good going forward, but poor as a defender. So far, his defending has been pretty decent from the small amount I have seen him this season.
