You never said he was crap iirc. You said he was good going forward, but poor as a defender. So far, his defending has been pretty decent from the small amount I have seen him this season.
Saturday was his best defensive game...and what a time to provide it.

But in previous games you'll see on game threads on this forum concerns over his positional sense and his failure to be alert to danger. And that's correct.

If he builds on the Liverpool game and gets a level of consistency then fair enough.

Maybe having a world class FB on the coaching staff helps?

Our defending has generally been much better as a side this season, maybe bar the Villa game. It's been collectively a lot better, even before looking at any individual performances. We've conceded 6 from 6 which is fine if we can replicate it over the season. Unfortunately it's the other end where the problems mainly lie.

Leaders like Coady and Tarkowski are making sure of that.
 
They help for sure, but the team is better organised across the field.
Yes, I agree.

It's obvious that FL has targeted the 66 goals conceded last season as the key. Lower that by 15 or so and we can get over the line a lot more comfortably than last season.
