2023/24 Nathan Patterson

He looked ropey during the first half and like you say Paqueta flicked it over him and he looked daft.

The level of Paqueta (someone ive posted about for years) and the skills he has was going to make it difficult for anyone.

By the end of the half he looked 'average'...second half went up gradually through the gears and overall id lean on it being 6/10.

I think he was short on confidence coming into this as will be suffering seeing Young start...so with a run i think we'll be seeing a great back 4.
Think this is fair made mistakes and grew into the game. We still need him to improve would keep him in the team for the cup aswell

If we had the squad, I think the lad would benefit from a loan.

It's beyond doubt he would.

Some people can step into the PL from Scotland and manage it: Robertson and Hickey (although he had spell in Italy first) have shown it's possible, but Patterson is not one of them.

We can't be in a position where we have him being praised for not getting turned over in both halves of a match. That's just ridiculous.

He has the athleticism to be a player but he's completely devoid of any positional sense.

I think that he needs to keep playing. The team are on a decent run, confidence will be high. These are the times to play inexperienced players like Patterson, rather than times when the team is under pressure. I think this is when you’ll get the best out of him and other players, when they have some momentum and belief.

I was a bit concerned given the start Paqueta had. He either went off the boil or we worked out a solution to shut him down better

Nathan is clearly lacking confidence. Understandable given the situation

It would be good for him to get more game time and hopefully grow some confidence

Dyche has him taking all the throw-ins down the right and staying back with Tarkowski on corners so the chances of a goal as someone was predicting on here earlier today might be pretty low. Especially when we also play with wingers

Still not sure why there's a small group of forum users treating his sometimes fairly average displays as if they're the worst performances in the team when they're never anywhere near that

It seems to maybe be a mix of hardcore Coleman fans and some other kind of fans

All very odd

No, what's the point? lets say he goes on loan somewhere, learns to sort his positional issue out and then comes back much better, Why do we need another manager and his coaching team to sort our problem out for us? That's exactly what we pay Dyche and his team for, they need to give him games and be doing one to one work with him in training, it's not hard ffs, most of us on here could help him with it.

"He didn't have as bad a second half as he did in the first, lad".

Tommy Wright, Gary Stevens, Ian Snodin, Seamus Coleman...to that.

He was really good in the last 25 minutes when West Ham were gambling and committing extra men forward to try and get the equaliser.

Great to see the emotion on his face at the end, too. He's obviously been low on confidence but knowing that he's made a vital contribution to an away win in the league should really help him.

He's got the potential to be really good - let's all get behind the lad.
