The impression I got from Rangers fans before he signed was he was a good attacking full back but the reality is he barely goes past the half way line. He's not crap, but he's nothing more than average.
Has barely any offensive threat, decision making suspect, constantly seems to turn back into trouble.
Not the craooest, just another average player to go with other average and crap players.
Saved one on the line - both full backs just don't overlap as much - today not much .....Poor to average
and here lays our problemAs a Rangers fan I watch your games to see how he's getting on and I'm sorry to say he doesn't look like the same player. I didn't think he had a bad game today and even saved one off the line but don't expect to see him get much credit for it on here. Rangers play with a system where the full backs are expected to get forward and one of the sitting midfielders covers them, and it is not unusual to see the left back crossing to the right back, so our fullbacks have a lot more freedom. When I watch Everton I see Patterson being pulled in to play like an extra centre back, allowing the opposition wide man if not picked up by your wide man a free run at him. Granted he does not look confident at all when receiving the ball in an attacking position, but that may be as there is not a great deal of confidence in the team as a whole. Some of you are happy to pick on his defensive errors and even if an attacker goes past him he is over criticised, so I am not surprised to see that when he has a decent game defensively he still gets it in the neck.
Yeah almost as if he's got instructions to play as a centre back stuck at RB.The impression I got from Rangers fans before he signed was he was a good attacking full back but the reality is he barely goes past the half way line.
Garner covered a few times the fullback position, especially the right hand side. Patterson was late on the pressing too many times, poor in his positioning...he was OK defensively but we were playing luton. As a Rangers fan I watch your games to see how he's getting on and I'm sorry to say he doesn't look like the same player.
