The 4.4k blues in the stands last night will likely disagree Dave
Of course. They deserve a good day out too.

But in the grand scheme of things a win over Luton is easily more important.

We'll get to the QFs and face a very tough opponent there and likely be stopped. I'd see that as another two games we can ill-afford to expose our threadbare squad to.

Can't two games be important but one more important?

Hang on - its bigoted to say the lad can't defend? He looked okay at times last night going forward and putting in the odd forward ball. But the simple fact remains he can't defend to save his life.

We didn't pay all that money for a very average attacking full back. He has no pace or skill to go past someone one on one (unlike many of the better full backs in the league).

Patterson seems to have numerous brain lapses during every game. His game intelligence is lacking and his age is no excuse. He nearly gave away a goal last night that would have brought villa back into it.

I agree completely with @davek That Dyche will bring back Young for Luton. Then when Seamus is fit the only option will be a loan or sale in Jan.

His defensive stats last season were a thing of beauty.

Everton is the only team I support. And I definitely stand by the statement that, as a defender, Patto would be the worst right back in the league if playing regularly.

I have no hatred for him whatsoever. Like many of our recent crop of players he's stealing a living but that's not his fault. If he starts to actually defend well then I'd happily support him.

Ps yes Lennon would have been a far better manager for us than most of the recent ones - Fat Sam, Benitez, Lampard and Dyche too - but that's a different matter for a different thread.

Patterson is not the worst right back in the league.

Lennon is a disgusting shout.

People who dont rate Patterson i can imagine are the types to have their laptops on...

...20 windows open, 15 of which are frozen and the other five theyre scrolling through trying to figure out where the music is coming from.

Something is either important or it's not.

Why did you use the term "more important" in your sentence then?

Let's move on.

Think he has the tools to be a good rb but has not started this season well apart from last night. Always feel he is on the wrong side when defending and thought we would see more from the attacking side of his game
