2024/25 Nathan Patterson

I think, as often seems to be the case, the truth is in the middle, with lots of things true at the same time.

Injuries haven't helped him, and I'm still not sold on him defensively, and when you play in a bad team that does make a difference. I didn't think he was that great yesterday, but he wasn't woeful either, and Mitoma is a very tough opponent.

In his favour, in terms of core fundamentals I think he probably has more than Mykolenko. He's taller, faster, better technique etc. In a team that lacks height and speed, he has both, which is a positive.

I think he would suit playing for a team that is more attacking, as that his strong suit. In honesty, at this stage that will not be a PL team, but I do think the role Moyes has Lindstrom playing would also sit Patterson, if Lindstrom moves inside.

I think Moyes will help him a lot, as he simplifies the game for people, and hopefully he's over his injuries. He's limited, but seems tompossess a good attitude which is a lot of what Moyes is after
I think that’s fair.

I have no strong feelings on him either way personally, I haven’t seen much that convinces me he should have played more or will turn out amazing but then I certainly don’t think he’s useless either. He just kind of seems a bit like a PL squad player for a bottom half team to me. Obviously if he turns out to be more than that then great.

I just find the major pro and anti stances people take on him to be very odd as he’s a player who just shouldn’t provoke such strong sentiment either way.

He isn't the young player I saw at Rangers...

And by that he's either bulked up way to much or has trouble leaving the dinner table, breakfast table and Nandos table. He's not conditioned properly, has lost a yard of pace without question. Maybe change of Manager and him being a compatriot might help

I mean, there’s very few saying he is a very good player at this time, the majority think he has good potential. Most seem to think he has more upside than young or Coleman and hasn’t been given a fair crack so argue his case that he should be playing.

….that’s an absolute nonsense. The lad has been defensively poor, so to highlight that doesn’t mean there’s an agenda against him. A series of Managers haven’t selected him for a reason, no agenda just reality.

Everybody wants him to be the real deal, but he’s been far from that. Only he can change the situation, no excuses.

"A series of managers"

= Sean Dyche.

Bore off buttercup.

Yes I'm sort of of the fence with him.

Like I see people making comparisons to Baines/Coleman and I just don't see it at the same age. Baines was faster, better technique and had a wand of a left foot. Coleman was an exceptional dribbler. I think both of them were a bit quicker than Patterson.

He's had some good games. I seem to have a derby game a while back where he won some good headers against Nunez.

But what he probably needs is a run of games where he stays fit and he might kick on. That's what's held him back most.

Seriously like, one post basically saying ‘I find both sides of the argument a bit mad’ and they’re all out giving it the ‘SHOW ME WHERE SOMEONE USES THOSE EXACT WORDS, SHOOOOOOWW MEEEEEE’. And pretending that isn’t them being weird.

Or you could just admit what you said was wrong instead of reacting like a child. I feel like that might be difficult for you though.
