2024/25 Nathan Patterson

If he struggles under Moyes then he'll probably need to move on

He'll get as fair a crack of the whip as anyone with his injury record could expect

If he can stay fit and improve in certain aspects of his game then he might be able to hold down a spot

I'm not overly confident though

He's playing in a team that's struggled and is attempting to secure their place in the league for next season, if we go onto bigger and better things then we can probably expect to make some decent signings

It's possible that Everton and the EPL was too big a move for him

Baby Jesus tells them to.
It’s not even that, it’s a different telling of the same story, with a few bits changed. All the main characters are the same, and they’re all doing the same things in both versions o the same book.

It’s utterly bonkers to me… there are so many other religions to have dramas with 😂

Why’s everyone always get dead weird over him

It’s the oddest thing ever isn’t it. He’s held to completely different standards to any other player. Some of our fans have a really weird Celtic attachment which they bring into the Everton forum for no reason, and that’s the only thing I can think of as to where the whole thing has started from.

It’s both sides though, it’s dead bizarre. There are people who just insist that he’s great and he needs to be given a chance and no amount of rationalising Makes any difference they’ll just keep saying the same things. It’s a very weird situation.

People wanting him to be given a chance and “insisting he’s great” are not the same thing. I’ve heard enough times that he’s absolutely terrible and not good enough, yet as far as I can see he hasn’t actually been given the chance to prove whether he is or isn’t. The games he has played, I personally don’t think he’s been any worse than Coleman or Young have for an extended period of time when they’ve played. I would’ve liked to see him play an extended run of games to decide whether he is good enough or not, because Coleman and Young are definitely not. And no I don’t trust the former manager’s opinion because he was an idiot.

They’ll deny it though. But you just have to look at their posts in the Scottish football thread to confirm it.

However one of the posters also has an unhealthy obsession with Ashley Young which is why they hate any competition to him.

Oh Jesus, I honestly had no idea you were one of them.

Gettin really tiresome the way some spout total wham about this player, it’s disgraceful tbh.

Must be frying their bigoted noodles to see the lad given much more of a chance under Moyes and he’s doing ok with it.

Also bored or the argument that he’s further down the pecking order than JOB, even though anyone with eyes can see we’re playing a back three now with wingbacks.

I think, as often seems to be the case, the truth is in the middle, with lots of things true at the same time.

Injuries haven't helped him, and I'm still not sold on him defensively, and when you play in a bad team that does make a difference. I didn't think he was that great yesterday, but he wasn't woeful either, and Mitoma is a very tough opponent.

In his favour, in terms of core fundamentals I think he probably has more than Mykolenko. He's taller, faster, better technique etc. In a team that lacks height and speed, he has both, which is a positive.

I think he would suit playing for a team that is more attacking, as that his strong suit. In honesty, at this stage that will not be a PL team, but I do think the role Moyes has Lindstrom playing would also sit Patterson, if Lindstrom moves inside.

I think Moyes will help him a lot, as he simplifies the game for people, and hopefully he's over his injuries. He's limited, but seems tompossess a good attitude which is a lot of what Moyes is after

Superb response. Addressed all of the points brought up. Enjoyed this debate.
I wasn’t debating, I was making a serious point. I find all the ‘he just deserves a chance it’s not fair’ really bizarre because it never seems to happen for other players. I said that and you replied with ‘HE JUST DESERVES A CHANCE THOUGH AND HERES WHY’. What debate did you expect to stimulate with that?

“There are people that think he’s great” was what you opened with to be honest. Not sure why I thought that was supposed to stimulate a debate, admittedly an error on my part.
