Confirmed Signing Neal Maupay

If he's not signed by midday, but signed by tonight, it means that at the time of his press conference, it wasn't done.

Because if it were, heaven and earth would've been moved to get the registration in for noon.

But you never said that, again, you said the deal can't be close...

If he signs at 3pm today he can't play tomorrow but the deal was still close.

Here are his Prem stats compares to Richarlison.
Maupay 102 apps
Richarlison 175

The highlighted stats are the most important as they’re not skewed by the difference in appearances, they’re based on shooting and outcome.

In these terms it looks like we’ve replaced Richarlison for a quarter of the fee we received for him.

That's quite remarkable.

Don’t use stats..Stats are the Devil…. Haha.. very similar to Richy

I agree that Maupay at his best is better than Rondon anno 2022. But there is a difference between Maupay at his best and a Maupay that has not started a competitive football match in more than 4 months.

Also, the reality that many seem to forget, is that with the current system and squad, Everton hardly create chances for its striker. Richarlison was more of a threat from wide positions. Calvert-Lewin scored once from open play in 1300 minutes last season. Rondon not scoring is not only because he is bad. Lewandowski would look awful in most matches as Everton striker.

It does not really matter if we play Rondon or Maupay as striker when the majority of Evertons shots will come from Gordon and Gray in bad positions.

Important to remember that we play Brentford. The most physical team in the league. They want a scrap. End to end stuff. Lots of freekicks and long throw-ins. Because they are world class on both offensive and defensive set pieces.

Brentford made a joke out of ten Hag when he selected a small United team last time they played at home. They can not wait to outmuscle and bully Everton tomorrow. I am sure they are worried when Lampard comes with his five foot tall new shiny toy.
Until Branthwaite’s sending off last year they couldn’t get near us and they’ve lost Eriksen since then. We also have something that resembles a defence and midfield now.

Going back to the first game against them last season, they were awful and only won via a penalty and a clear one not being given to us. Oh and we battered them in the cup. They’re no great shakes, they have more ‘off’ days then ‘on’ days and we just need to be ready for that tomorrow; Maupay or not (just to keep this on topic ?) They only won 2 games more than us last season and that would be down to the 2 games we lost against them (reasons noted above)

I'm not really sure why you're focused on that.

My point was that if the deal were advanced enough to be over the line by noon, we'd have heard about it at the press conference - and likely before that from the usual suspects.

We didn't, so he won't be signed in time to play tomorrow. That's the substance of what I'm saying, and all that I care about.

Lampard's early press conference might indicate he's needed for something else before noon?
Appointment with Kevin Thelwell to discuss further potential transfers ahead of the deadline. If they put their plan into place now we might be able to mull over a few considerations ahead of the window SLAMMING shut.
