I couldn't think of a player more unsuited to Dyche's style of play. He needs to move on and get a fresh start somewhere.
Looks like his confidence is shot.

…posts like this confuse me. I have no idea why he should be ‘unsuited to Dyche’s style of play’. The fact he’s been dreadful is nothing to do with tactics or style of play. Maupay was equally as pathetic under Lampard.

He’s just been bad.

I am not saying he hasn't been dire but Dyche's style of play better suits a DCL or Chris Woods style targetman. Bottom line is he needs to be moved on

…I’m none the wiser to ‘Dyche’s style of play’ suiting certain players. He had a similar type to Maupay at Burnley in Vydra who terrified Keane every time we played them.

’Dyche’s style of play’ is a bit of a throwaway remark, I’m not even sure what it means. From what I can see he likes good footballers who work hard for the cause. Burnley played us off the park in the game McNeil scored a cracker a few seasons ago.

Indeed, Lewin and Woods can play back to goal. Maupay simply can't. Play him off those two, pretty sure he would be more effective. But that's not going to happen as you highlighted.

More effective than what he is could easily still be awful
Keep in mind he got quite a few chances per match at brighton and was very poor finisher there too.
It's why they wanted rid of him
So in keeping with our decline, we no longer just buy cast offs from the utds/arsenal's we now buy brighton's too, while they go spend that money on 3 or 4 far better players. It's nuts... our club needs a complete change of culture. And we need to be honest, after 2 relegation battles in a row, we are no longer a step up from a brighton or a Brentford, we're a pay rise, because we always pay more for less.

….I find this view confusing as ’2nd strikers’ often receive the ball with their backs to goal. Odd that some posters think a footballer on the pitch spends his time facing the opposition goal.
