That's when he really falls apart.….I find this view confusing as ’2nd strikers’ often receive the ball with their backs to goal. Odd that some posters think a footballer on the pitch spends his time facing the opposition goal.

Indeed, Lewin and Woods can play back to goal. Maupay simply can't. Play him off those two, pretty sure he would be more effective. But that's not going to happen as you highlighted.

They often receive ball in front to side left and right thus be more effective feeding off the scraps in 2 up top rather than loan man. That's all im saying.More effective than what he is could easily still be awful
Keep in mind he got quite a few chances per match at brighton and was very poor finisher there too.
It's why they wanted rid of him
So in keeping with our decline, we no longer just buy cast offs from the utds/arsenal's we now buy brighton's too, while they go spend that money on 3 or 4 far better players. It's nuts... our club needs a complete change of culture. And we need to be honest, after 2 relegation battles in a row, we are no longer a step up from a brighton or a Brentford, we're a pay rise, because we always pay more for less.
DuhI notice a lot of people put a 't' at the end of his name instead of 'y'. Could we reach a compromise and just call him Muppet?
That'll be everyone p*ssing themselves laughing at the ball bouncing in off his backside or however he flukes the goal. One goal and the floodgates will open
One goal and the floodgates will open
Hmm, or the tears because we will all realise that it will mean he'll be allowed back on the pitch again. That'll be everyone p*ssing themselves laughing at the ball bouncing in off his backside or however he flukes the goal.
Why do you think that? He never played off a main striker for Brighton, he was their main striker. He’s shown absolutely nothing to suggest he can link play as a second striker either, he doesn’t actually do anything when he receives the ball deep. Never seen him take the ball on the half turn and help to progress us through the thirds and up the pitch. He just one touch pops it straight back where it came from without even looking around him. Where on earth have people got this idea he’s a second striker from?
I wouldn't necessarily argue he was a second striker but he wasn't tasked with the burden at Brighton of being their main goalscorer which he was expected to be at Everton + a role DCL and Richy were and are burdened with. They play/ed (Brighton) much more fluidly and goals are shared between the team and wide forwards. Hopefully with the Danjuma signing and others coming through we are also shifting to a system and side that chips in with goals across the front three and midfield too.
People in here who are firmly against Maupay appear to misunderstand those who are 'defending' him so to speak. Both things can be true - Maupay has played very poorly for us and we are expecting him to do things which isn't his style or profile.
I couldn't careless about his feelings and he's a terrible employee.Feel sorry for this lad
Ain’t good enough ain’t his fault
Gets some proper hate
