He’s been bought to play with Dcl. Like richarlison he does a lot of ratting, but of a wind up and likes to come in off the left.
Also like richarlison he isn’t really a number 9 but has had to step in there

Good, useful player but he's not a target man or someone you want starting week in, week out leading the line.

I've always rated Maupay but my opinion remains that it's Calvert-Lewin's fitness that will determine whether we're midtable and comfortable, or fighting relegation.

Our front three is worse than last season, and as bad as I can recall.

It's Gueye I feel bad for.

Until recently he was looking up field and seeing Neymar, Messi and Mbappe leading the charge. Now he's got Gray, Gordon, Maupay and Dwight kin McNeil to play with.

Must be the biggest downgrade ever to happen in world football that.

Always figured he'd need time to adjust back to being pressed as well.

A few years of playing a holding role for PSG is a world away from Everton.

He isn't forced into his last 2 mistakes leading to goals in a PSG side.

A new striker in January is essential.

What other PL club relies on a player better known for his injuries and illnesses than goalscoring and a bit part player from Brighton to lead their attack?

If our defence hadn't improved significantly we'd be in a world of trouble right now and be rooted to the bottom of the table.

People talk about lack of service and that we need to create for him. Completely forgetting that he is part of the creation himself. If our cf holds the ball well, it allows us to move the team up the field and build attacks.
Remember Yakubu being really really good at this. On his own against two chs often ended in a freekick to us due to his strengt.
We are in desperate need for more quality upfront. Maupay should be a squad filler and no more than that.

Agree that we definitely need an additional central striker. Whether people think DCL is injury prone, or not, or any good, or not, we can't be one injury away from Maupay being our main striker for weeks or months. He should only be 3rd choice as the main guy, and normally playing along with the main striker of the day.

DCL is finished. Maupay is someone who just pops up now and again and scores off scraps around the box.

For Lampard to amble into the season with that pair and expect them to get the goals we need is beyond 'kin stupid.

If he has anything about him he'll have a forward lined up and in on January 1st.

We definitely need to splash whatever available cash there is in January for a bit of upfront quality
