2023/24 Neal Maupay

May have been mentioned but it was Fulham fan who made the comment but still few of our fans calling him crap on insta. Can see him asking for a move away. If there's a league without keepers he would do very well.

He is busy and deserved a goal today - had to score one of them. Fair play to the keeper too.

Really feel for him tbh - confidence is shot it pieces, but he’s not a lone striker and never has been.

Dyche should not be flogging the dead horse - dobbin, cannon, danjuma of chermiti to start of DCL is out.
Yea he was busy and the keeper should've been nowhere near some of the shots
The highest xG unconverted by any team in the entirety of last season and most of that was Maupay today
Would've been nice if he scored for us, for him, for the team, for the club, but he didn't so that is not on Dyche
Dyche set the team up to create the numerous chances it did today and we didn't score
I've had to perform in front of people in my job when not feeling my best and never got paid anything like the money he gets paid so all I can say is time's up, move on, the demands of our fans don't match the ability of this player

You could say the demands of our fans don't match the ability of any player. We usually make our judgements after 5 games, tops. McNeil being a classic recent example.

We're that starved of success thanks to the stage managed decline by balloon head we've turned into rabid dogs, snapping at everyone.

I genuinely feel sorry for Maupay as he's clearly trying, it's just not working and he should be moved on. (I expect that's been the plan all summer to be honest)

When the manager names him, I'll bet he feels absolutely sick to the stomach knowing the groans will be loud and clear. Don't start with "He's paid xxxxx, he needs to suck it up." Goodison Park on the majority of matchdays is a toxic workplace.

Some of can go all misty eyed and kid yourselves we're a club with incredible support, but turning up isn't incredible support. We're league leaders in cry-arsing, and have been for a long, long time.

I'm not suggesting we become a club of happy clappers, but as fans we have to do better. We're absolutely crap, and have been for well over 10 years. Just accept that this is going to be a long process and understand howls of derision over every miss isn't helping.

Agree with the abuse to Maupay being disgusting, but I definitely don’t remember much of the fan base thinking Lukaku was crap, because he actually scored goals.
He still got plenty of stick.

Groans about his touch, accusations of laziness because he wouldn't chase hopeless balls all over the pitch.

As a fanbase, we practically hate every player to pull on the shirt yet we'll occasionally have some weird, misguided love in with some absolute wasters.

He has been actually, that was his role for Brighton
yup.

anyway train has left the station, maupay is mentally in no state now to play in front of our fans and just as dyche wishes to protect Dom and dele, he should do the same for maupay and not play him.

just pointless cup ties for maupay to get back his confidence until he's sold.

I can only speak for myself, but I loved Rom when he was here. Since Arteta leaving the only two players I’ve been gutted about losing were Rom and Richy off the top of my memory

Don’t know why people give out that kind of abuse when they could just say:

You are so bad that in a world where Brighton have fleeced Chelsea for 110m for Caicedo and 65m for cucarella, the 12m that they charged us for you was by far the worst. Brighton bent us over and rammed us so hard. You don’t even have a preferred position, you aren’t a no 9 you aren’t a no 10, you are a 9.5 who needs his hand held by a striker and a CAM and even then you’d just get in their way. Please leave.

"This is what I get for not scoring. No one should ever have to deal with this."
Well, actually Neal, what you get for not scoring week after week is 50, 000 pounds.
Annually that is 2,600,000. Your three year deal is worth 7,800,000.

People say horrible things out of frustration. I am not condoning it & I don't do it, but it happens. Fans expect to see passion & competency on the pitch. What would happen in any other industry if workers repeatedly failed to do what they are paid to do. Every player has their off games, every striker has dry periods, but you fail to score goals that are there for the taking.

You, along with all the other self-indulgent, greedy baskets that play pro football are happy to take the money of hard working people. If you can't handle the vitriol due to an endless number of p!ss poor performances, maybe it's time to walk away from the game. You have accumulated far more money than you need to live comfortably.

Only scumbags and morons say such things in frustration at a game of football, and only scumbags and morons would defend it.
