Note to all footballers / influential people in this world: If you can't handle it, don't go on social media.

Problem solved.

Good luck trying to change the behaviour of idiots, it will always exist, you will always be targeted, it's the world we live in.
That’s not problem solved it’s just problem ignored the amount of people victim blaming on this is terrible it’s a disgusting thing to do just accept that and call it out for what it is.

There will always be idiots who go to personal stuff. Thats plain and Simply wrong.
But I also agree with your first sentiment. Players should keep the hell out of socials especially after defeat.

Women should not wear short skirts, especially when drunk, in case they attract negative attention - that's correct, aye? Blaming the victim is how I see that.

Anyway, like I said before, there's an immense difference between justified criticism and vile, offensive comments like we saw yesterday, and there'll be more.

I'm off to B&Q later, and if they don't have the nails I need, I'll just send them a DM saying I hope their kids get cancer, and it's their fault for being on it?

This can’t be right, @Zatara has already banked the £15m for him because he was tenuously linked with a move by some blag Twitter account in June.

Everton[edit]

Maupay signed for Premier League club Everton on 26 August 2022 on a three-year contract with an option of a further year for an undisclosed fee.[63] He made his debut on 3 September, playing the whole match of the goalless Merseyside derby draw with Liverpool at Goodison Park.[64]

Fantastic news, we have an option for a further year.

100 nailed on we will go for it!

He makes Stuart ‘Jigsaw’ Barlow look prolific. Thelwell should be relieved of his duties for allowing 15m to be wasted like this.

It's much more though isn't it. £15m + £50k x 208 (4 years) = £25.4m. And he's probably on more than £50k a week as well.

Guys it was £12mil. We can sell him for £8mil to break even on his book value.

Got no idea why he wasnt sold in January to Salernitana. Well done Dyche for blocking that deal, idiot.

Come on lads/lasses, we have just had the Dele interview which looked at how we shouldn't assume we know everything about a person. At the end of the day behind every footballer is still a person and we shouldn't have to say to people to not use something which is part of everyday life now because they might get abused. I find it really weird that we want to take away from a victim rather than a perpetrator. It's fine to criticise players for their performances but to start throwing abuse at their families, friends and loved ones, especially wishing them death or horrible illnesses is vile and unacceptable no matter who you are.

We have a thread on here about mental health and the impact it has on many posters here. Have a heart.

Gaslighting Maupay for receiving abuse is all very ‘2023’.

The fact that (mostly) grownup men can’t manage their own emotional response to a football result is on them. Maupay isn’t the next Pele but he’s a human being.

Investing in a football club’s fortunes doesn’t give you licence to act like that behind a username.

The club are absolutely correct to call out grim unstable weirdos.

The online abuse and some of the comments about his family has no place in football and I’m sick that some think it’s acceptable. We’re all trying to help dele sort himself out, whilst at the same time trying to break this lad - he’s an easy target.

He worked hard yesterday, and got into a number of good positions that I’m sure with a bit of confidence he would have slotted one or two - the fella isn’t trying to miss chances for gods sake.

We all need to think what we are doing and posting - me included, about any person/player.

People are not wrong to point out that this happens to every footballer every week and until they stop allowing anonymous accounts it won’t ever change.

This is not an Everton issue as it is being made out to be.

It's not his fault he's getting picked despite not being good enough (one of many), he's clearly trying when on the pitch. The abuse just gives the board the opportunity to jump at the chance of blaming the fans for something and deflects away from their problems of not bringing in the kind of players that everyone has seen we need.

The abuse on social media is not specifically an Everton problem either, social media just brings out the worst in people because of the mostly anonymous nature of it - it happens to pretty much all famous people, unfortunately nothing will ever be done about it unless they removed the ability to create anonymous accounts and force a verification process (which they won't).
