It was one of his usual 2 co-hosts.i believe it was the one who either lives in the Channel Islands or maybe it's France?

How can you not have a telly these days?

Possibly because he's still contracted to Lille and they're asking around 40m Euros for him.

Very good value, vastly better that Nuno in every conceivable way.

That's where we are though. It's an unfortunate reality.

Not only are we not the most attractive we are a very, very difficult nut to crack. A lot of managers know this and won't risk their reputation and why should they?
I’d say a fair few would gladly accept the pay day. We’re in a difficult position though for sure. The more I think about it we need to take a risk on young players with potential to propel us up the league and get a manager happy to work that way. Will leave it up to Moshiri and Brands to decide who that is.

Still no Nuno. Put your dummy back in.

Gonna go on record saying i won't mind Nuno. He seems like he knows some things and has a certain charisma and spirit thing going. That way, he'd be in a similar mould to Silva and Martinez. Obviously, that comes with the same pitfalls as those two had. For better or worse, sure, but if i could stomach them i can stomach Nuno too.

And seriously, it's a good fit with the player group too. Portuguese-speaking, tactically sound, used to the PL. There is a host of bullet points that fit the narrative well.

Obviously it's a sideways move but appointing a genius manager with a pedigree isn't gonna make us win magically, as Carlo obviously proved. I'd rather have a likeable and tactically sound charismatic softie dolt than a faux-hardman brexit dad manager to be honest.

I'll leave you to work that out.

You're being really obtuse about the flavour of the month phrase - it's quite clearly FOTM for the fans as we are discussing this in the context of a fans forum. Nuno by no means fits that description.

So you want some unknown quantity from Ulan Bator do you? So strange this kind of criticism. They have their list based on many criteria and it gets whittled down. It may have started with the fancy dans that you're pining for but for whatever reason, they weren't viable. This unfortunately leaves your line of criticism floundering because they did exactly what you wanted them to do. What then? Kidnap and torture to make Gallardo the next boss or you'll claim they've failed?

Oh and I, and many others, would disagree with your fundamental claim that Nuno is incompetent, he's far from that, so once again, your argument crumbles.

You'll "leave me to work that out" ?

Youve made a statement comparing Vitor Pereira with Marcelo Gallardo and Ruben Amorim.

I cant "work that out" im afraid...

Is it because theyre 'foreign' ? Havent managed in the premier league ?

Thats all ive got...

Whats the logic?

I think you'll need to explain before i read the rest im afraid as youve gone down a massive tangent here...or appear to have done so...

Also interesting is that Lille's president was seemingly bigging him up for the Everton job last week. Perhaps the delay is down to them seeing if any serious talks transpire before Nice step in again?

Their former DOF had said hes suited to the premier league ages ago...the rest was just media fluff.

High salary, premier league club...

Its a very attractive job.

"The Daily Mail claim Everton talks with Nuno Espirito Santo are continuing with discussions being held over his backroom team.

Nuno worked for the long-term with six staff members at Wolverhampton Wanderers, including an assistant manager and goalkeeping coach, which Everton currently have in the form of Duncan Ferguson and Alan Kelly respectively."

So the holdup is basically because Moshiri & Brands are still mulling over exactly how to break the news to Big Dunc?

They're just about to make an unpopular appointment even more unpopular..
.
Don't know about that, I'd be quite happy to see the jobs for former players scheme disbanded.

Christ Dave, you don't half carry a chip on your shoulder... lol

You were sound with Ancelotti just a few short weeks ago?
No, I wasn't. I said his football was rank. I also said I'd hand him till Christmas to put it right.

That's far from being sound with him.

The worst thing we can possibly do is hire Nuno and not let him bring in his entourage who he feels comfortable working with.

If we bring him and and keep Dunc and the rest around him then its doomed to fail from the start imo.

If he comes then whatever he's the best of an average bunch Galtier aside but give him what he wants to try and succeed.

€40mil ? Reports say €5mil.

If we can spend money on players...why not a manager?

Defies logic.

Why not Dyche then, Allardyce...or Wilder?

They all play a certain way though none of those 3 has had the luxury of a super agent giving them £300mil worth of players....

Imagine £300mil worth of players through a super agent and you end up below mid table after 4 years of playing the same negative style...

Even Allardyce did better at Bolton and Dyche with £300mil should achieve the same as Nuno.

Uninspiring.

Its almost like the Moyes knife to a gunfight excuse.

Nailed it.

Sums up the state of us the top of the club. Mosh, Bill and Brands all pulling in different directions behind the scenes. The managers, players, journos and fans know it.

Is it really that simple to let Mosh focus on the stadium, Brands on the Football side and remove Bill and the old boy network.

No unity. No progress.
