This reminds me of the last hours before we make a signing......
First the player is linked then on twitter or somewhere else a deal is reported and GOT and other sites go into meltdown..
Then everything goes quiet and supporters are waiting to be gazzumped by Spurs or the deal has fallen through or an old knee injury emerges.... result usual hysteria and paranoia.

Ultimately , player signs but so much nervous energy has been expended in the saga the actual signing is underwhelming and nobody is too bothered anymore and anyway we signed the wrong player at the club, there was somebody younger, cheaper and better available.

Just substitute manager for player but the saga remains the same.

problem is we cant attract 3-4 decent replacements without a strong manager. Certainly not with Benitez and Nuno, yesterdays men.

Winning diddly squat for 26 years and no european football is a bigger reason for not attracting decent players.
We end up buying your alex iwobis.
We had one of the mega giants of world football in carlo ancelotti and it was still a struggle to get decent in their prime players.
We need smart recruitment for players who are hungry and decent but not yet on the radar of clubs who can offer a more attractive package of trophies and euro competition.

Galtier seems infinitely preferable - touch of Hollywood but not likely to bolt when Real or Barca flutter their eyelids at him.
