To all blues making excuses for hiring this man who, make no mistake, likes us no more than we like him. Where is your pride?

I can understand, to an extent, our overseas fans taking this line as they do not fully appreciate the true depth of the feeling here, but I am very surprised that scousers are defending this potential appointment, he is a fat, over the hill, mercenary who has no love for us and will be happy to get a big contract paid off when he is, inevitably, sacked in the next 18 months.

Even Nuno or Duncan are beginning to look good to me.

The lowest I have ever felt as an Evertonian was when Rooney jibbed us off as a young lad.
This would equal and probably surpass that.

…..Rooney was always going to move upwards and onwards, he had a fantastic career & I for one fully understood why he left when he did. Subsequently, he could’ve managed that process better but it was great to see him do so well.

I think this is different but let’s hope reports are incorrect.

Felt sick thinking he was going to get an interview nevermind the job

We didnt finish 10th cos of performances, we finished 10th cos of results.
We would have been 16th if it was per
I think he's a tad over rated. Valencia is his biggest high 20 odd years ago. That night in turkey clearly bigs up his rep at the pit(cheers ancelotti for rolling over in the 2nd half) he left liverpool in what 7th in the table?
Chelsea were ridiculously strong to walk into as an interim manager..
Inter
Madrid
Napoli
? Anyone suggest he did anything mega there?
If he can claim getting newcastle promoted then so can nuno with wolves.
Thing is with him aswell is he's fell out with every club he's been at it seems. Constantly blaming boards he hasnt got funds. This wasnt just newcastle. He's done the same at most of his clubs.
I cant see him ever fitting in at Everton. He's already starting on a negative with some fans. Unless he hits that ground running for a few months that will only sour in time.
But away from all of that. I think he's a bit of a dinosaur in football now.
An absolute backward step from Everton if theres any truth in this.
Dont give him a last big pay day.
He's he most hated Inter manager in 20 years and that's including Frank de Boer who managed a month.
Benitez took the only team to ever win an Italian triple and turned them into total donkeys.
He's a terrible, terrible manager.

To be honest I don’t think it
Matters who gets the job. They all would be gone inside 2 years. The squad is a mess and it will take a good few more windows and seasons to get the dross off the books.

It also comes down to the board, until Moshiri rips it up and he stops medaling also. I can’t see much changing.

Conte was the best out there, but I don’t think it would have been a good appointment. Because he wouild probably have jumped after 12months.

I wouid have liked to see us, take a chance on a Galtier, Hen tag. even potter. Maybe the club tried for these and got turned down, I feel these wouid have at least got more time from the fan base.

As for the rest, Nuno, Howe, Moyes, Martinez. I actually wouid take Rafael. As I will think he will shake things up a bit, Moshiri wouid have promised him funds. So what ever happens I expect the squad to be in a much better place when he goes.

But there will still be that question about Moshiri and the board. Getting better more ruthless people in to run the club. And hopefully letting Brands to finally do his job. A big if going off the last 5 years
One thing about Benitez is he doesn't suffer fools. Given the seemingly autocratic/incompetent way Moshiri operates, I look forward to a manager who doesn't defer to "Mr. Moshiri". If Benitez thinks he's being blackguarded, we'll all know about it and the heat will, for once, rightly come on the Mosh.

I'm still not convinced it will be Rafael, though. People talk about "reliable journalists" - but they don't really exist. King, Hunter, Joyce, McNulty et al seem to be watching each other's speculative punts like hawks...and then following with the same speculative punt lest the first mover somehow get it right and leave the rest in the shade. As for The Athletic, O'Keefe and Boyland have been found out big time. I subscribed last year on the strength of the James reportage, etc. But they're not remotely "in the know" at board level, and have succumbed to too much tabloidese "The Athletic understands..." guff to be considered anything more than paywall David Maddoxes.

What a pathetic, stomach turning, no morals assessment of the situation.
You have clearly lost the plot.

Sorry to say but the people so hung up because he managed them could equally be called pathetic and without backbone. Why get so wound up about it?

Again this is if it happens, which i still doubt.

1) pretty much every reliable journalist is running the story
2) for the 7000th time, Sky and SkyBet ARE NOT LINKED

Even if Sky and Skybet were the same company, would they really risk the wrath of OFCOM to peddle false stories just for a betting market which probably totals a few grand at most.

" Come on lads, put this story out as the betting will increase so we can make 974 pounds "

It's surreal when you think about it.
