What I can’t understand is why the Geordies give him God-like status for bottom half finishes playing awful football.
You've answered your own question, mate.

18 years old, first season in the league, meant to deputize Jimenez, not meant to be a lone striker
30M, Portuguese league. This should be the kind of money the so-called big 6 is throwing at, not a mid-table club. Clearly this is a Mendes buy, while looking at resale value but also shifting the risk to Wolves so his more important customers won't get burdened if he flopped.

And why should Everton be a part in this?

Our team isn’t bad when all players are fit. I should qualify that by saying when I mean not bad it’s mid-table. Add 2-3 quality signings and it’s deffo a team that could have an outside chance of Europe depending on injuries. Aside from our slug like midfield the main issue seems to be the inability of players to get up for matches against the so-called lesser teams.
We are massively overrated tbh mate. that spell at the end of this season where we could barely string three passes together was quite a lowpoint in my lifetime as an Evertonian. doubt theres many managers who can get us higher than midtable and Rafael isnt one of them. even with investment i doubt we break into the top 7.

They do

They don't really. There are constant debates about having him back, but they accept the football was dire. However he went down to the championship with them when he could have left.

They don't seem to realise how much money he wasted though and believe bruce has massively outspent him, which he hasn't, he is on course to spend the same after the same amount of time. But Bruce isn't an exciting name of someone that's won a lot managerially.

Still think it's extremely likely the club is using this so we all back Nuno when he's appointed. Both will not last longer than 18 months and Rafael probably less. Moshiri can clearly no longer be trusted, and it's likely we are just treading water till a man like Usmanov comes in and actually shows Chelsea and City levels of ambition.

Given the money he has put in and made available for transfers, employed a well known, successful manager, I'd argue that it is not his ambition that is in question. I'd say his judgement on who to trust with his transfer budget is most questionable. Perhaps his choice of manager too if we do get Benitez. But not his ambition.

We are looking at players, and being linked with some who have pace, which is a refreshing change. In some ways not having a manager might help, as Brands can crack on with his policy of signing young fast players before the next bloke comes in and demands we sign a 30 year old player who can't run.
No players will be sign whilst we have no managers. He can be looking at 10 players, the fact is nothing will happen until we have appointed a manager.

There's shouldn't be one Evertonian and I mean ONE EVERTONIAN on this forum advocating Benitez.

I'd be ashamed and embarrassed of myself if I uttered his name in a conversation with my son about possible Everton managers.
If its only between Nuno and Rafael then I'd rather pick Rafael for the lack of long-term consequences.

Sorry but we should not be that close to the likes of Rinola and Mendes.

I agree but risk vs reward. Mendes got Wolves in the conversation that they had no business with being in and got them the player now it’s club’s responsibility to develop him. If he fails the club can’t displace the blame to the players agent

Yes but take a step back and listen to what your saying.... "if its between Nuno and Rafael".......it shouldn't be between either of them mate.

It's an embarrassing process of head hunting no mark managers.

OK I've been hibernating these past few weeks, thoroughly hacked off with Everton for quite a while now. Wondering why I bother to expend all this energy when all the club give me back are false dawns and non-winning managers, lazy (injured) players and the longest non-winning streak in English professional football..

And then they appoint no-marks like Buchan, Bingham, Lee, WALKER (for whom we paid compensation for poaching him!!!), Smith..

Moyes.. who made us "punch above our weight" - REALLY.. We are EVERTON FC 9 TIMES winners of the league

And then we brought in Martinez who, after a couple of decent seasons got sacrificed after a poor run (and he isn't doing so bad now is he?) before we seriously went off the rails and appointed Koeman, ALLARDYCE, Silva...

We got what everyone thought was a great manager in Ancelotti but he disappeared faster than Gbamin..

So what do you want eh? Eddie Howe? Graham Potter? Big Dunc? Nuno?

So he was Liverpool's manager? Did he win things? YES!

Can he organise a team? YES

Is he actually a decent guy (forget the jibes) YES

Is he the best we can do right now - PRETTY MUCH (unless you think we might get Gaultier or someone similar)..

So, bury the hatchet and think about all the bad things our club has been serving up these past (whatever) years and get behind this appointment if it happens. If you want our club to progress it's time to think about our identity.

MAte, he has done everything he can, it has just gone wrong. He is still the best thing to happen to this club for 30 years

Modern football doesn't really require a manager. The DoF have a vision on how football is played, and targets players and coaches that fits this philosophy. The Manager, more properly named head coach nowadays, is responsible for its implementation on the pitch. If everyone is on the same page and they have a distinct way of playing, they don't even need to wait for a head coach to train or to do any business, as all parts should be somehow interchangeable and capable of deputizing each other.
