I stand by everything I've said under the last few manager's, whoever ends up with the job (by they Benitez or anyone else) they have my backing. Now is not the time for petty grudges. Some of our fans are so wrapped up in their hatred for the RS that they can't see the bigger picture here. Its not like Benitez would've been the clubs first choice (or second or third for that matter!) to be our manager, if he joins us its because he's the best manager we could get. We can either swallow our pride and back him and the club and hope he changes our perception of him or we can basically sabotage both him and the club from day one by attacking the guy right from the off. I know which one I'll be doing. I support Everton Football Club not individual players or managers. They come and go but the club will always be here. Now is the time to get behind it.
It’s not just petty grudges, he’s an outdated, bang average manager who favours a dull negative style of football.

I love that the person everyone is convinced will be our next manager isn't even named in our poll :) FSW is not my preferred option by a billion miles, BUT, loads have been bleating for ages that the club has to start running as a business and drop the sentimentality, well if this appointment is confirmed they have most definitely dropped the sentimentality! Whether it turns out to be a good business decision is a different matter altogether!
Unfortunately the burst Spanish knacker doesn't make any sense business-wise either.
He's finished, washed up and on the retirement circuit.
He's got nothing to offer us other than mid table obscurity and the chance to pay him off in 6 months to a years time.

Its a terrible decision on all fronts.

Im clearly in the minority but I’m not that arsed about Benitez being in charge. I want results and a bit of consistency and structure over the next few seasons. Any emotional stuff about him managing the RS is not really a consideration.

It's not about the reds. It's about the fact he hasn't achieved anything in years and went off to manage in China. That's not what a top manager does. That's what a manager does before they retire.

Regardless f whether I think Rafael will do a good job (personally, it’s Mark Hughes hybrid but in Spanish),or hang us out to dry, which is obviously important.

It’s absolutely suicide from the board regarding this, if it’s Rafael. I don’t care about him 14 years ago making crass comments about us, it’s that long ago.

But he’s made no hiding of the fact he still loves Liverpool, their fans and it just means our fans will be turning as soon as they have the opportunity. It’s a backwards appointment which wooo cause conflict, is like to think it’s press by Benitez to drum up interest, or mind games by Everton, whilst we lock in someone else.

Either way, a dark day for Everton Football Club.

Didn't benitez sign almiron for £20 mil and joelinton for £40 mil?

Should fit right in with Everton's wasteful spending.
Almiron was signed by Rafael as a 10 or false 9 and deployed by Bruce out on the wing. Tool-set wise he is not unlike a less effective Richarlison so not too far from expectations.
Joelinton was a clear Mike Ashley flop, said to be a favour to an agent.

You don’t hire managers based on what the fans think.

Otherwise we’d have Ferguson managing us and would be bottom by Christmas.

Other managers do exist.

If you make such a divisive and polarising choice then you better get it right. If this decision goes wrong then everyone involved has to take responsibility and leave the club. Moshiri has not shown anything to suggest he is capable of making the right footballing decisions.

There’s a similarity here with the Nuno news on Friday. From the sounds of it that was leaked by Nuno’s people following what he thought was a positive interview fully expecting a formal contract and Rafael’s people have leaked a similar thing (only Rafael has more friends in the media). None of this is coming from the club but from the candidates cheerleaders.

I’m not saying it won’t happen – we’re Everton, we will make the worst choice 9 times out of 10 if given the chance but there is every chance there may be another twist in all this.

I don't know why, but I'm genuinely starting to think that our new manager is going to be someone left field that hasn't really been mentioned yet by the media. No idea who, but I have a feeling it won't be Benitez or anyone else in the current GOT poll.
Galtier is not in the poll...so that means....:bye::drunk:

Come on…

You honestly think a manager with his CV who didn’t have the Liverpool part would have 75% of fans in a poll saying no to him ?

The China thing is an unfair criticism. As I’ve said previously you don’t leave your family to go and manage in China at 60 if you want an easy retirement gig. That makes no sense.

Rafael seems just as close now, as Nuno was last week.

Are the club leaking this stuff to get fans reactions ??

Think he signed almiron but joelinton signed 6 days after Bruce was appointed. (And Bruce gets the blame but I'd say that's an Ashley signing).

You know perfectly well that's not the reason the bulk of our fans don't want him. If another manager with his record was linked with us who had no prior connection to the RS I doubt there would be this level of fury around it. Who else is there we realistically could appoint? Do you think the people who run the club don't know this would massively controversial? The fact that we're pursuing him anyway tells you all you need to know about the alternatives we have to him at this time. Again, he wouldn't be my first, second or third choice but we are where we are and there's no point in cryarsing about it. If he gets the job we need to back him.
