And yet Thomas tucel came from France and was arguably manager of the season.
Premier league experience is a vastly overrated quality by some.
Absolutely. Mourinho, Klopp, Ancelotti and Conte all came without PL experience and won titles. Guardia too obviously.

However they were all, at the time of their appointments, managers on the top of their game who had achieved considerable success in major European leagues.

Wonder why spurs are not fighting for benitez maybe because he doesn't live local
He's popular darn sarf.

No way. He did well, but manager of the season he was not. A glorified Di Matteo.

If he does well next season, then fair enough, as he will have done well over the course of a full year.

Because we're ridiculously nice. It is frustrating because more ruthless clubs walk all over us such as Madrid did. It has a real Bill K feel to it

I imagine the lure of working with world class players at Madrid is slightly stronger than working with our mid-table maestros. What do you propose we lure currently employed progressive and exciting managers to our illustrious club with?

$$$ and historical significance, it's all we have and why we need to target employed managers that would likely see us as a step up.

Historical significance means nothing to anyone but fans desperately trying to cling to something other than the reality that we're a midtable team. Most upcoming managers were kids the last time we meant anything to anyone but our own supporters.

So yes, it's $$$

One difference, he came to the PL and managed Chelsea not Everton. Chelsea has a much better squad than us, so everything was in place for him to do well instantly. Coming here his job would have been 10x harder.

Seems like this point, if anything, helps support the idea that there is no PL learning curve. Managers who have had success elsewhere in Europe have been able to replicate that success in England.
