I'll be interested to see the footy he plays. Certainly at Newcastle it wasn't good but from what I've heard from Liverpool fans it wasn't turgid when he was there. And his record at other clubs doesn't seem to suggest it either
He had World class players to lean back on at most of his other clubs, What has he got here? A target man in DCL and 1 genuinely top quality footballer who gets on the pitch for about 60% of games who he has a run in with in the past. It will be set up very similar t Newcastle. The LIverpool fans I've spoken to wanted him to leave when he did because the football went very stale and safe, which would marry up with the fact he hadn't won a trophy with them in the 6 years after the FA Cup game

"FSW" has more pedigree than any manger we've appointed since Kendall, bar Carlo.
Literally no-one we've appointed has done anything like what Benitez has done in the game. Every kopite I've spoken to can't believe we're getting him, they rate him that highly.

But somehow us knowledgeable blues with all our trophies and success over the last 26 years know much better than everyone else.

I reiterate yet again - he's not who I'd choose to manage the club - mainly because it's clearly an incredibly divisive appointment and it's just not worth the mess it's going to cause.

But to suggest that Benitez doesn't have the quality or pedigree to manage Everton is a bit of joke tbh.
George Graham also won lots of trophies a long time ago playing dire football. Shall we give him a bell too?

Anyway - all this is proving why I don't want him to be appointed. The groundswell of opinion against Benitez means it's just almost certainly never going to work.

All I'm saying is I think he's a better manager than many people on here seem to think, and I think people's opinion of him is massively clouded by the ill-advised (but accurate) comments he made when managing our biggest rivals.

I have a sinking feeling that our owner is going to appoint him, and loads of our fans are going to create a toxic environment and it will go very badly wrong.

And here's my biggest fear - let's say this IS all about trying to stabilise the club ready for the new stadium. What happens if Moshiri gets so upset by the lack of support for his appointed manager that he just pulls the plug and walks away, leaving us in an even bigger mess?

Yep - point taken. Nevertheless he has double figures of trophies to his name in a period when our great club has won zero. I think that probably makes him a little better qualified than most managers out there.
Like I said before, I would rather gamble on potential than hope a storied manager with little recent success can recapture their mojo. Benitez hasn't won a major trophy since 2014 and has been a cup manager since 2004. I wouldn't say no to a cup of course, but there is little in Benitez's recent history to suggest he will do that here.

Well he has a major platform as one of the main Everton fan channels. He should be using it to condemn that way of thinking, not just meekly accepting of it.

Again we as a fanbase need to change our attitude sharply.

Some did condemn the goings on at the club back in 2011 and got lambasted for it.

“These are not true Evertonians”
“Don’t want to be a Leeds”
“ Don’t want to be a Venkys”
“Don’t want to be a Portsmouth”
“Just get behind the team FFS”

Certainly see what you're saying about the quality of our squad. Carlo definitely resorted to safe tactics too.

But I'd hope that would be a first step with a view to being more progressive later when the squad quality improves.

Why do some people think the stadiums going to fix everything? It will still be the same gobshite team and board.
Can anyone name a club that went from also ran to contender as a consequence of building a new stadium? Even at optimistic estimates a new stadium generates an extra £10m a year in income. To put it another way 40% of an Iwobi.

Can't wait for all the happy clappers to cheer on Bill "I was in THE BOYZ PEN" and "Who gives a crap what the supporters thing" Moshiri against Southampton if this goes through.

But will the squad quality improve? We will yet have 2 people pulling in different directions with Benitez and Brands. Another negative for Benitez, he wants full control, he doesn't work with DoFs and always falls out with owners of clubs. He usually gets fans on board when going against boards but that just wont happen here so his biggest weapon has gone.

He isn't the best candidate though is he? Plays awful football, hasn't done anything of note for about 8 years, went to China for a retirement fund and now wants a job around the corner from his house so that he can phone it in for 3 years and get paid handsomely for. We need somebody who wants to bring in a style of play and give us something to get behind, this is not an appointment fans can get behind.
he's never 'phoned it in' in his life, it's clear he lives and breathes footy.

It’s at the point that this is so boring that I can’t believe you lot can be bothered fuming anymore.

The club just need to announce someone so whoever it is the fans can get over it and move the fk on.
Get over it by quietly accepting it and then cheering Benitez' name you mean? Clapping the board when they appear on the screen singing if you know your history because we bravely held Liverpool at Goodison until the 89th minute by not getting out of our half?

In life, if people are intent on a path of self-destruction, you give them as much support as you can because you care for them. At some point though, they take your unwavering support for granted and it doesn't actually help them help themselves. Sometimes you have to withdraw that support. Starting to think that way with this lot tbh.

Those of us who are unhappy with this should withdraw support, whether that be not renewing season tickets, stopping buying merchandise, booing the team, petitioning the club. Whatever method it is, it has to be that way or we will be taken for granted.

Look how even the Super rich clubs papped themselves over the ESL when fans really stood their ground. If that was us, we'd have probably gone down to Goodison, held hands and sung 'if you know your history' before clapping our board because we're 'not Kopites.'
