It looks like its going to benitez and sounds as though it will be announced in the next few days.

There will be absolutely no benefit for anything associated with Everton football club for protests or negativity towards him. We just need to accept it and get behind the team and have faith that he will get us where we need to be. I believe he will do it.

I honestly couldn't care less about what he said about Everton, nor who he managed. I think Klopp is a bell but if he wanted to hop across Stanley Park I'd have him in a heartbeat.

My issue is that we are always behind the times. We are never forward thinking, we are always regressive. We are a laughing stock. We are about to appoint a manager who has done nothing of note for years and whose style is drifting out of the game. I am sick of watching Everton play awful football. Our football has been mostly awful since about 1990 (with the odd exception). I want to see us approach games with swagger and act like we belong at the top table. I want rival fans to look at us with envy for the way we play and the way we are run.

Benitez was on to something with our mentality with what he said (though it was ridiculously disrespectful of a rival manager to say so) - and he is not the one to change it. How often are Everton on TV and we put in a cringworthily bad performance of anti-football where we play long or can't pass the ball five yards? How often to we just camp men behind the ball? This absolutely needs to change.

Benitez is anti football and anti what we should be looking at. He's had his day and his day was a long time ago. Some might say the same of us and if we appoint him we are effectively agreeing.
Ok fair enough mate. I think in some ways we're on the same page. My ideal would be a younger coach who'd work with Brands and build something from the bottom up - a team with identity that's good to watch. Absolutely would love that.

But all I'd say on Benitez is I'm not sure he's quite as "anti-football" as you make out. I may end up being proven badly wrong on that. But it feels like he's being built up as some sort of Allardyce/Pulis/Dyche figure on here and I just don't think that's the case.

That Birmingham game where they were losing and he took off Torres. El King Rato Slippy made a big theatrical play to the cameras and he was sacked shortly afterwards.
Left the end if that season I believe. He's been a cup manager since 2004 and hasn't won one since the copa Italia 7 years ago

Get lost!! What a joke. The benefit of being negative about him is we can get him out the club ASAP. We as fans should make this a non starter and completely untenable.

I hate what the whole benitez thing is doing to the fanbase and creating this civil war of opinions.

Even if he was at the top of his game, and was winning things I would still hate it, but I could understand us looking at him to be our manager for those reasons.

As it stands, I despise that he has even been linked, seeing as he's a has been who hasn't done anything for about 10 years in football, plays awful tactics and ran off to China for a pension pot - how can he be the best candidate for Everton?! It makes zero sense.

I haven't even been arsed to renew mine and the kids seasons tickets yet - covid definitely had an impact but the whole euro super League disgrace (and lack of punishment for the scabs), Carlo buggering off and then all this [Poor language removed] with the next manager, has really peed on my royal blue chips.

Such a weird attitude to have. Does anyone actually do this in real life?

I think you would be hard pushed to find a side in world football as historically successful as we are who are thought of so lowly and the butt of so many jokes.

Just what is it about his recent record and that's always the most relevant that convinced Moshiri to pick him? Or is it just because he is a name and screw how the fans feel?!

Clearly this is the feeling of quite a lot of fans. But I just think there is no benefit at all in breeding negativity. We must all just get behind the team. Hes not a born Liverpool fan, just done a job at them. I see through all that personally and still rate him

Based on what? A Copa Italia ages ago. The fella has had no success for years and took Inter and Chelsea backwards in the league compared with previous coaches. The idea he is still a top level manager is a myth, he's spent three of the last four seasons in the championship and the Chinese league. Inspiring stuff.
