Based on what? A Copa Italia ages ago. The fella has had no success for years and took Inter and Chelsea backwards in the league compared with previous coaches. The idea he is still a top level manager is a myth, he's spent three of the last four seasons in the championship and the Chinese league. Inspiring stuff.

Didn't he win the Europa league with Chelsea?

I hate what the whole benitez thing is doing to the fanbase and creating this civil war of opinions.

Even if he was at the top of his game, and was winning things I would still hate it, but I could understand us looking at him to be our manager for those reasons.

As it stands, I despise that he has even been linked, seeing as he's a has been who hasn't done anything for about 10 years in football, plays awful tactics and ran off to China for a pension pot - how can he be the best candidate for Everton?! It makes zero sense.

I haven't even been arsed to renew mine and the kids seasons tickets yet - covid definitely had an impact but the whole euro super League disgrace (and lack of punishment for the scabs), Carlo buggering off and then all this [Poor language removed] with the next manager, has really peed on my royal blue chips.

I feel ya. They were never going to get punished severely . You only have to look at the media pushing the “you can’t punish the fans narrative”. It’s shameless and blatantly disingenuous however they know it will all simmer down in time and it’s business as usual as they say.

And that win percentage at Newcastle is artificially inflated by a season in the championship with by far the biggest club in that division. He's a busted flush.
Seriously I cannot see how this ends with anything other than mid table at best, languishing in the bottom half mostly likely. And most likely he is hounded out. It's an insane appointment and I will never ever support it.

They tend to have squads full of quality players who can perform to a top 6 standard no matter who is in charge.

We have a terrible, fragile squad who could be in real trouble if we carry on in this spiral of appointing and sacking managers.

So for the team's sake, I'm not going to be booing a new manager before they've even managed a game.
This is ridiculously overplayed. We finished 10th, won 17 of our 38 games, and finished 14 points ahead of the team two below us, and 8 points behind Chelsea in 4th.

Pressing the nuclear button and appointing Benitez is insane.

Clearly this is the feeling of quite a lot of fans. But I just think there is no benefit at all in breeding negativity. We must all just get behind the team. Hes not a born Liverpool fan, just done a job at them. I see through all that personally and still rate him

I'll always get behind the team - I did through Walker, Smith, koeman, bisto tits, and Im sure I will if we go for benitez, even with his past comments and red history.

I don't blame any blues who won't be able to get past that history either, and really don't understand why the owner would even float the idea.

I also just don't rate him or believe he's the best option in the whole world of football for Everton FC, at this time.

Maybe 10 years ago - not now.

It looks like its going to benitez and sounds as though it will be announced in the next few days.

There will be absolutely no benefit for anything associated with Everton football club for protests or negativity towards him. We just need to accept it and get behind the team and have faith that he will get us where we need to be. I believe he will do it.
oh go away Bill
