For me im more worried about Brands and the squad than I am Benitez potentially coming in.

We could appoint Guardiola and we wouldn't do much if Brands keeps giving him players like Iwobi & Gomes.

For me the pressure should be on Brands this summer whereas its been deflected to the manager situation.
Exactly. Not fussed who gets the nod. We've had a few managers through the door since Moyes and we've been let down by the players every single time.

Brands really needs to re focus on bringing in young hungry and talented players for less than than 20 million and on lower salaries. The days we spend 50 million on average over the hill, injury prone players should end.

Hated Koeman, Silva, Allerdyce and Ancelloti's football was the worst I've ever seen. Whoever comes in doesn't have to do a lot to get me back on side.

Basically Benitez falls out with clubs who won't give him loads of money to spend that often the club can't support. Of all the numerous problems at Everton, that isn't actually the problem. He will not give a monkeys about the club, the academy, the unambitious culture at the club as long as he gets his signings. I can see why he and Usmanov/Moshiri are worryingly well aligned.
Just on this - and not talking about Benitez specifically but any "manager". The fact we have a DoF should mean that the "Manager" is really just the "First Team Coach". In that regard, we don't actually need or perhaps even WANT them to be giving a monkeys about the Academy.

The way it should work (in my mind at least) is that the First Team Coach works exclusively with the First Team, and it's the DoF who has the oversight of the whole player pathway from kids to first team, and simply tells the FTC at certain times - "right - xyz young player is now in your first team squad - use him". Obviously I think there needs to be some agreement between DoF and FTC over signings for the first team squad - but even then it should be the DoF who has power of veto.

Sadly I don't think it's working that way at Everton. And it's weird because Moshiri seemed absolutely determined to have a DoF model, but is also the one who damages that model the most by interfering in the most important decisions - especially who will be the FTC.

this is why i think Brands and Potter could be a good combination

Think Potter is a very good first team coach and wouldn't interfere with recruitment, especially if he was given a huge opportunity at a big Club.

Might be a good fit for us to rebuild.

Feel like Benetiz is more of the same, think he will try and work with the same player's that have been a problem the past 4 seasons. But, if it is him, I'll try and get behind the team because they're going to need it.

He should be signing players as we speak and booting the likes of Delph, Benard and Gomes out the door - not waiting until the new manager comes in before deciding what he wants to do with the squad.

He's the DOF!

Agreed, but he should also be selecting the manager to manage the players he is signing, and it looks like he is being completely sidelined/overuled in that part of the process.

He's the most un-Dof Dof in world football working for our barmpot, nuthouse football club.
