One aspect I'm not seeing discussed with the impending appointment is just the already general fragility that exists within the squad. With the miasma awaiting benitez's reign I just see the players further crumbling from such a hostile environment. I'm sure Benitez is already nonchalant being reviled but how will the players handle the tension? Also if you're a prospective recruit why would wanna subject yourself to the thunderdome and a club in turmoil.

Outside of Evertonians its just a job to players mate - they wont be arsed in all honesty.

The more you think about it the more we are like Blackburn when they had the Venkys. Only our Venky has a few more quid and a posher coat.

It's a ridiculous business decision because of the reasons we are both aware of. Which is essentially people overreacting to a business decision.

I understand all to well what the problems are, I've tried to argue for a call of reason. And it may well fall on deaf ears. But it's better to have at least 1 sensible counter post to the alternative, bitter, irrational hatred, where people can't even be honest enough to say what the real reasons for opposition are. I have watched as people have defended the behaviour of using personal insults in the banners, many on here said the people who did it were right to it and it was perfectly acceptable.

The problem is, our fan base will be negative to almost every single appointment, so by your reckoning, any decision we make will be a ridiculous business decision, obviously with differing extents. If they are down to choosing between several bad options, I hope at least they pick the bad decision that is best for the club.
People will still go and support the club which is their choice.
Probably have similar morals to those who turn a blind eye to Boris Johnson’s disgusting history and think he’s an ok PM.
Nobody is “overreacting” this is morally and unequivocally the wrong appointment for this football club.
It’s so short sighted, it doesn’t even comprehend into any rational way of thinking.

Why wait? Just because he managed Liverpool years ago? No wonder we’re known as bitter blues! Wasn’t my first choice but I’d give him my support, it’s the club you support not the manager. Love the way people on here think they know how to run a football club better than these clueless billionaires!!!
No, not just because he managed Liverpool, that is just one large part of an enormously short sighted and pathetic decision.

by the way, you are fooling nobody. You are clearly a red who’s sad enough to join a forum of rival fans to try and be edgy.

do you know what our motto means?
I do.

But best can be a relevant term as well. If we only went for the best and refused to put a team out because Messi and Mbappe say no, then we won't have a team. So the alternative best is the best we can get. Not as catchy, not as inspiring, but a tad more honest.

That of course is under the illusion that it's something we live by anyway.

Morally? Come on.

At best it's idealistically.

It may very well be short sighted. But booing someone and trying to ensure they don't get a job they may be good at is as short sighted as you can get.

No I don't think you get the egocentric thing.

Its not a case of thinking what will happen, the ego thing is purely the logic that "I am OK with it so everything will be Ok."

It is not intended as an insult at all. It is just insular thinking that totally neglects to take the problematic issue on board.

I am just telling you the truth. I have nothing to gain from doing so, I take no great pleasure in it either. But the truth is right in front of you and you are choosing to ignore it.

A divisive managerial appointment is a stupid move.

Why am I even having to explain this? It's ridiculously obvious! Maybe I should just repost that each time to those who don't get it? It's easier.
I don’t think anyone is saying I’m ok with it and everything’s ok,they will make the decision what ever is said by some and I don’t believe it’s the tens of thousands what you think it is,as you say it may be a few thousand that will be load as the saying goes empty vessels make more noise.
We are putting issues at the forefront before we have any idea what the reaction will be, say it’s hopefully a full house against the saints and we’re 2 up in 20 minutes you don’t think the majority of the crowd will be behind the team, again your saying divisive but your judging it on a forum and Twitter I presume but the match going fans are not all millennium baby’s that make their own minds up and won’t follow the so called mob.
Your minds made up and I respect that over what you think will happen but there’s plenty who believe/ hope it may go the oboists way ,yes we may have pockets of dissent but I believe that will fail gradually if things do go well.
Right I’m off to bed work in the morning will log on tomorrow for day 15 of rinse and repeat of the fable that is Benitez
