Debatable on his last 7 or 8 years. But it's done now
Like I mentioned a few posts above and a fair few times before, his recent form is a concern. Yet, in the pure sense of pedigree, he's better than the others.

You also have to consider what the other three have achieved in recent years compared to Rafael. I'm not advocating his appointment by the way.

Rather, I am trying to look at it objectively and with a glass half full mentality, which means I perhaps don't think it's as bad as some others are suggesting.

This isn't a Mark Hughes or Fat Sam level of appointment.

Even if it wasn’t Benitez the football we will serve up next season is set it be atrocious whoever comes in. The squad is just to poor. I think as a fan base we have to come to terms with that first and foremost. Unless we plan on a massive overhaul which is extremely unlikely.

If we win more as fans we won't care about his past but seems like a strange appointment as a few bad results and fans will be calling for his head. How can the people running our club be so bad at their jobs collectively.
Besides Ancelotti, we have always called for the manager's head after a few bad results. Rafael will be no different and he will have a spell of defeats no doubt.

the Sweep I remembered from childhood would have the courage of his convictions, and play 'Welcome Rafael' on his little bugle (cos of course he couldn't speak)

They are building you a shiny new £500+ million stadium on the docks and have invested more money than most owners in the league without the benefit of CL revenue to keep the taps on.

Our fanbase have become so spoilt in recent years imo not Usmanov/Moshiri's fault the likes of Walsh/Brands pished money up the wall like drunken sailors on trash like Iwobi, Gomes, Siggurdsson, Delph, Toshun, Bolasie, Klaassan the list goes on.
Yeah, we've definitely been "spoiled" by our overachieving finishes averaging 10th and our amazing transfers of Iwobi Sigurdsson Gomes et al? Really bizarre logic there. We've been let down time and time again and this is the club ACTIVELY making an appointment that a huge % of the fanbase simply will not accept. It's genuine madness.

So if I give you £2000 and you go burn it/spend it on rubbish thats my fault?

Not having that mate.

As I said very short memories some have. If the money had been spent correctly we wouldnt be sat having this conversation thats down to Walsh/Brands.
