It doesn't matter to us when the announcement is. The players will know and will be prepped for when they return to training next week.

Take that 40 applications story with a pinch of salt as it come from the Liverpool FC Echo.

I suppose even if that many people did apply, it doesn’t mean the club didn’t set their sights on other managers at other clubs and put the feelers out there via agents and what not.

Again it’s all conjecture and hearsay, I’m doing it too. I just find it hard to believe we have solely set out to get Benitez like many perceive it to be, it just doesn’t make sense, for me he’s been chosen as he’s the best out of what is available to them (the board) based on experience which is what I believe they’re looking for.

We aren’t the only ones who are struggling with candidates for managerial positions currently and that’s a bit telling.
A mate of mine who is a big Sunderland fan sent in his CV to apply for the vacant manager's role last time it was open. He got a polite response from the club saying they would take his application into consideration alongside the many other experienced applications they had received, and respond in due course.

He's a maritime lawyer lollol. You can imagine that if there were indeed 40+ applications, many / most will have been along these lines.

Brands has to resign. Whart a joke this is...

Baz (ToffeeTV) reckons the announcement will be tomorrow. He's obviously not ITK or anything, but he seemed weirdly sure that it will be.

Baz made a fair point on that if for whatever reason we dont get Benitez we are in a real mess as

1.we go scrambling for option 2 who the owners may not be willing to back to the hilt with money in the transfer window

2. We would be unlikely to tempt any manager currently in a job or their clubs letting them go with 4 days before pre season starts

3. Galtier who everyone wanted has joined Nice

4. If it was a top name like Mancini or even El Loco at the Euros that could still take 2-3 weeks before the Euros are fully done etc. And we are in pre season without a manager.

Which as I pointed out would see us scrambling around the likes of Dunc, Howe, Parker, Alladyce

With the new stadium location, a maritime lawyer might be useful. When can he start?
