Maybe I'm still naïve about what Everton are but I watched this club win league titles and european cups, beat Bayern Munich over a two-legged tie to get to a european final. I understand things have gone sour but that should be our aim, not to 'overachieve' and finish 6th every season like we did under Moyes. People who want those days back I just cannot understand. Everton should be one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Yeah he did us over. So what we go back into our little box and know our place?
No, but there's more than one way to skin a cat. IMO it's nigh on impossible to bring an elite manager, used to only maximising the talent of a top quality squad of players, to take you from point D to A. It's far more possible to bring in a manager adept at squeezing every last drop out of average players to go from D to B and THEN strengthen with a top level manager.

At the end of the day I’d hope we all just want what is best for Everton Football Club after what happened this week! But no potential Manager, apart from may be Mike Bassett, of this club is going to be googling fans forums to see which players the fans “like”! If any manager turned up for an interview with Moshiri and Brands and mentioned the fact he wanted to google fans forums to find out what the fans think, they’d be calling for the men in the white coats and he’d be escorted out of the building sharpish!
Duno Martinez turned up with an iPad a should Bill how he beat City and that was done lol
My main point was coming to a serial underachieving Everton With a fan base that can turn toxic extremely quickly a manager like Potter and Nuno would be best to try and understand the fans feeling in a way. Carlo came in and SAID all the right words about family and stuff, perfectly sold himself to the fan base, he read us perfectly and play us perfectly he was also Carlo friggin Ancelloti and we let a lot ride
Nuno and Potter won’t get that.
Conte would t care what the fans thing he just do the job but he get much more time from the fans

I get you and I understand. But the alternatives are worse.

I don’t disagree but the reality is we don’t have the resources to attract and keep hold of top class managers. Pointless paying some £11m/£12m per season if you have a team of bums who have proven they aren’t good enough and expect a manager to change that and improve the squad and expect instant success on a budget of about £50m per season.

If Marcel Brands is doing the managerial search expect it to be someone like Nuno, who’ll be happy to work on a limited budget and let Brands do all the player recruitment.

Or even a manager who develops alongside his team and becomes that top level manager.

Yeah and then we gave him a shoe string budget and expected him to work miracles. Top managers require top money and unlimited funds. We can’t provide that, we most definitely didn’t under Carlo. Conte is another manager who’s proven he requires a big budget to get the job done.

Then you get the next top class manager at some point it’s going to work.
Sort out our right side and improve the football and we are not far away.
Where do you think Carlo would have finished next season

No I want a Conte Simone Ancelotti Zidane type manager,
Following that someone like Ralf Rag or the Lille fella or Poch
Someone who knows what it’s like to win something

Not a Well Potter brilliant because his XP made him 3rd but he finished 17th
Or a Nuno who home sick and clearly needs a break
Or god forbid a Ferguson or Lampard
I’d be far more inclined towards the second group than the first

We have money, we just freed up a load of wages, we got sellable assets in Rich/James/Kean
Rich my favourite Everton player but we could find a replacement im sure

Antonio Conte would be a great appointment, unfortunately it won't happen.
Yes, he might not stay longer than two seasons, but in that time he would further raise the standard at our club.
He would be a demanding manager but surely that is a good thing.
The project of raising the club profile was started with Ancelotti.
The season finished very poorly but it should be remembered we were in the hunt for top four possibly up to the last three or four games from the end... we really were not that far away and if we could have won a couple of wasy games at home we could easily have done it.
BTW, Carlo must take substantial blame for the home performances.

Duncan has done his interviews over the last three or four years with his performance at the club and is a contender or not.
My feeling is that if he is a contender it will be with an older mentor, a Fergusson/Ranieri combination for a two or three year apprenticeship with Duncan as head coach.

I have only heard of Potter mentioned here and I don't think he is considered at all, no more than Dyche or Howe.

Moyes, I didn't like how he behaved after he left but I do think he could do a good job here again. However he will not leave West Ham and if things did not go well here fans would turn against him very quickly because nobody really wants him back

Nuno must be a strong contender but is someone I don't have any strong feelings for or against.
If we do appoint someone outside of the Premiership then I think the role of Duncan will be vital as he already has the knowledge of the players.

Sari is another high profile name but from his previous time in England where he didn't settle then it is highly unlikely he will try again, if offered the opportunity.

I feel that Rangnick may have moved on from club management.

Conceaio and Fonseca may also be considered and both certainly would have a lot of merit .

The result is that we really do not have a clue what is happening .

Weird this.

We hired Ancelotti who nobody thought we'd get, who's since been poached by one of the biggest teams in the world.

Yet people think the likes of Conte or Sarri are out of our depth even though they'd still get paid double digit £ms a year and have £100m+ to spend in the summer.

But fine let's get back to that plucky little people's club mentality and hire Nuno or Howe or another recently relegated manager.
No chance will we spend £100m
