People don't want Howe and I agree. But what's the significant difference between Howe and Potter? Is it just that he's the new bloke nobody knows much about but he kept them up didn't he knowworrra mean like.

Dull, nonentity as far as I can see. And not many Brighton fans have much good to say about him.

Howe has a better win percentage despite being arguably at a smaller club than Potter......

Just saying!

An what about all the years before them?
The only other manager I remember pre-Catterick was Johnny Carey. He was technically an ex-Everton player as he guested for us for two games while football was suspended during the second world war.
Pre 1939, the most successful man in charge of the club was Thomas H McIntosh, but his job title was Secretary, not manager.
Hope this helps.

Potter is pretty "meh" as an appointment but he's probably a decent option if you have a long term plan you want to see out

He'll probably just focus on coaching and let Brands do his thing as well, so that's a potential positive I suppose

I'm not sold on him, but I suppose I could live with it if he got the gig

Is there anything other than @MikelsGoat championing of Potter to suggest he’s close to the job?

Love this forum

on one hand

Conte serial winner is not what we need

on the other

Potter who finished 17th and team can’t hit a barn door is exactly what we need

The big worry with Conte is him going for older players. He would need to work with Brands on younger players like Bastoni /Hakimi.

I think we could quite easily spend £150mil+ this summer after punting a bunch of players and Moshiri injecting some funds...

That would keep Conte happy.

Then next summer he will want another £150mil for players...we would probably be able to get that for him too if we finished top 4.

I cant see us finishing top 4 this season though.

So will Moshiri and Brands spend £300mil to back Conte in the next 2 summers in the hopes of top 4 ?

I dont think Conte would agree to only signing players under 25.

A lot of people worried that Conte wouldn't last two seasons, which is a minimum of 76 games. Trouble is, the average manager in the EPL doesn't last more than 69 games anyway.

I think you're probably right
Out of the options being mentioned, I'd have Potter. Or someone like him.

That being said the options being mentioned are absolutely abysmal.

This Ancelotti fiasco has absolutely killed off my interest in getting a top class manager because they would see us as something to pass the time until they can be rescued by a better club. They ain't interested in the "Project" (I hate that word now).

We need to look at other clubs who have built something on good recruitment and sound management of the club. The likes of Leicester and Atalanta.
