Does anyone think Contes reasons for not joining Spurs as a poor excuse, or is this Spurs pulling the plug before they get rejected by a manager who may join a team perceived to be a smaller club?!?

No, I think if Conte wants to join a side like Spurs, then he wants to fail his way with complete control, Levy will need to bend, Conte holds every single card.

He wont be joining a side thats never played in the CL.

. I don’t think that finishing 10th is in any way a reflection on Ancelotti, while a great manager can make average players better he can’t make average players winners. He certainly can’t make the bunch of lethargic mediocre people we have top four. His worth would have been in who was brought in and who was kept.

I cant see Moshiri hiring a bloke whose taken Brighton to 15th and then 16th.

Especially without having any 'brand name' or pull. I think there will be a manager with some cache to attract players.

If he had done something exceptional or seen real progressive progress I might think differently.
But he hasnt he's played 85 games with them and a win percentage of 25% and as you said finished 15 & 16th.
His biggest acheivement is dodging relegation for the past 2 years.
Thats no basis to come into this pressure cooker / basket case club like we are at the moment.

Well a lot of it is just based on what people have thrown money on, but as i said Scott Parker isnt even on the list so it cant be fully accurate

Didnt Conte basically say there [Poor language removed] that's why I'm not joining.

Seems fair, Conte should be at one of the top clubs
