I watched the Silva, Koeman and Martinez eras. Before right now I've never felt that the problem was the crowd because there were a ton of things on the field that they screwed up.

Is this like a fans trying to make themselves feel important thing? The manager failed because of us?

All fans. Of any club.

They are your critics after all.

The screw ups you mention lead to the fans reacting. Some get a shorter chain than others in that regard depending on who they are.

It's not really that hard to understand.

Just a question…

Do people on here not like Moyes because of his comments etc when he left? Is that the main reason or just didn’t like him as a manager?

Everyone says he’s not a winner which I get, he’s not my first choice but how many FA cup finals, semi finals & top 6 finishes have we had since he left?

Moyes again showed last season he cannot win away at Man city, liverpool, man utd and chelsea. But can still finish in the 6th place.

11 team will be trying to get into the top 6 places next season.
If Man city, Man utd, Liverpool & Chelsea splash the cash and improve next season then it will be hard for others to get into the top 4 ...then Everton, Leicester, Villa, Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham & Leeds will be trying to get 5th & 6th.

It would just be nice to get some who can buy into the club who wants to be here, gives us an identify to push us on. We have been such a disjointed club in the last five years in fact since Martinez's first season it's been a mess...
Yes, the identity has to go through the club though. Brands, Mosh, and eventually the players all need to fit into it.

The fans can think whatever, we need to man in charge of hiring a manager to not do it.

Of course. But if a manager like Potter will need time, you gave to ask yourself, will that be afforded him by the fans, and is Brands going to be able to defend him through that. Thats just sensible isnt it?

He is one I like who should be on the shortlist, wants to come to England is available and likes to play attacking football and has experience of managing on two fronts which is what we will need when we are back in Europe (don't laugh).

I think we have interviewed him before so not sure if he would still be on the radar of the board.
Win percentage of 60% at Roma apparently

deaf ears.webp

Well it's not just from the interview. You do your background checks but you can't argue it's something we can just ignore. Not everything has a number attached to it and I love numbers.
Yeah I get that. I'd just be really weary of ruling out a good candidate because of a tough to pin down intangible thing.

And like on Potter I'd think having his system work fairly well and not pull results but staying committed to it would be a point in the other direction, that he won't wilt when things aren't going his way.

But hey, who could possibly feel pressure at Brighton right?

True and I think the board needs restructuring too, Bill Kenwright needs to go he is still meddling even now!! When we were promised his position was now symbolic. But the coach is a large part of that, we have a team of individuals there is a lack of joined up thinking from top to bottom

This is not a good way to make decisions. You've got to be able to ignore the fans and do the right thing.

This would still get the boos. It's a tough gig managing here for sure.

I'm not advocating signing a manager with the right mentality but weak in other areas either.

Whoever comes in needs the full package.

I think in modern football to ignore supporters completely would be a big mistake. Once supporters turn it makes it very hard for a manager.

I'm not saying you dont go ahead and appoint him, but it ought to be a factor.

What I'm saying is if he isn't arsed now when it is all going against him surely that is a sign that in the future he'd stick to his plan even through the bumps?

Because that's what I want. One of the problems with Martinez was the first signs of trouble he started flailing and just trying things. Have a plan and stick to it.
