He was interviewed and didn't fit what we were trying to do.

Allegedly anyway.

There is no way he has turned us down if we wanted him.
What I heard (not in any way ITK)
Leaves Wolves. Contacted & had discussions with Palace.
Carlo fecks off.
Has discussions with Everton
Everton tell him he is “preferred choice” but do not offer him the job.
Palace contact him and offer him the job.
Anyhow, not confirmed yet.

That’s why I can’t see Moyes coming here either. At WHU he has a blank slate and the skeleton of a good team that he himself has built to an extent.

Come here and Brands will be calling the shots.

He certainly doesn’t need the money any more, and this is likely his last long-term job.
yes, the presence of Brands I think rules out Moyes sadly. Cos Moyes is fifty times better than Brands in the transfer market.

I think some variant on that is how it's played out.

Palace have probably pressed him and he's made a decision.

My own take is he was probably Moshiri's initial choice, but Brands is taking over the process far more, and Everton want to go over it for some time and he's probably not a big enough name for Moshiri to overrule him.

I think he would have been an ok manager for Everton, like a 6/10 type of guy, with lots of positives and some drawbacks. I don't mean this disrespectfully, but he might be a better manager for Palace, who may have a priority of not only avoiding a relegation dogfight but emulating what Wolves have done. Everton have just got as many points as Wolves managed under Nuno and want to kick on further, so there were some limits on the upside.

I also think for Nuno, if one org really wants you, and another is umming and arring, sometimes it's better to go where you are wanted.

The main point as anyone but a pedant can see, is that the squad is awful and therefore not attractive to an ambitious manager. Now I understand you say that means my point is garbage, but that's only because you are a pedant.
You can keep repeating that word as much as you want, doesn't change the fact that your main point was supported by factually inaccurate information.

Is our squad the best around? Clearly not. But there were only 9 sides in the country better than us last year (in a year where we had one of if not the worst injury records in the PL), and we have a large number of players coming towards the end of their deals, so there is ample opportunity for reinvigorating the squad in the short to medium term.

We also have an owner who has shown a willingness to invest in the squad and in the manager.

So yeah, I think your main point is pretty bad, as well as the supporting info.

There isn't one single credible link to say he had talks with us just nonsense from the echo.
Holds talks with Palace
Carlo disappears
Sits around waiting for his phone to ring from Brands (It doesn't)
Palace probably contact him and say what's happening were not waiting
Agrees to take the job.

I'd be very surprised if there was no contact from us. How far it went would be debatable but I'm fairly sure there was a discussion

I heard Brands wants to bring in a really big name....
