New Everton Stadium

As the senior and first professional club based in the City of Liverpool, I can't think of anything more appropriate than to have the word Liverpool in the stadium name.

The first purpose built, senior football stadium built in the City, one of the greatest footballing cities in the world, since the 19th Century should bear the city's name, especially with "the home of Everton football club" attached to it.

"Liverpool Waters Stadium, Home of Everton Football Club" would be immense IMO

Totally appreciate where you are coming from.

But maybe it's just too divisive? I don't know.

I would be more than happy for us to take the word "Mersey" as our own.

As it would be part of the whole development, sounds ok. And Peel, and whoever is building the rest of it, would quite like that as well.
I think having Liverpool in the title is important. The stadium will be the game changer for us and we may as well tell our new fans where we actually are. Anything that reinforces our dominance of the city ahead of the other lot is good by me.

Mate not wanting to repeat myself but why would you as an evertonian even think that there name should be anywhere a new stadium we might or might not have I find it quite bizarre.

This is a little bit my thoughts too mate.

We know we are cursed to share a city with them but for a lot of the wider world they've no true idea that when the wind shifts the stink is more eye-watering than usual. Globally because we don't have Liverpool in our name we stand out even better in my opinion, sure we don't get the glory of the city but equally we don't get the taint of our neighbours, particularly in Europe where they are reviled by many for their 80s antics.

I don't want our name even remotely besmirched by theirs; call it "The Merseyside High Seat" or something but don't have Liverpool in the name unless we plan to nuke them from history first (this is also ok)

Because that's our City mate - I was born there as were 3 generations before me. I'm proud of everything that carries the Liverpool name, apart from that football club. Time we took back our heritage and represented one of the greatest cities in the world in the only way we can, the Everton way.
Liverpool as a city has p...ed on Everton from a great height for years as far as this city is concerned it's Liverpool and the beatles, have yourself a proper look around this city starting at the Albert dock and you will see how biased it is towards them, you have your opinion great but I for one could never come over to that way of thinking.

Totally agree I would call it a sh.t hole before there name was anywhere near it.

I appreciate it may appear as a divisive naming, but it's bold and it would show leadership and primacy, something we've not showed for 50 years. Dr David France was quite correct when he said we have been in decline for 50 years notwithstanding the brief period of success with HK Mark I.

From what I've been told this will be the finest club stadium in the country, including Spurs new ground, this is our chance to reclaim the ground lost off the pitch, we should grab it with both hands and go for it.

You're right mate about the AGM at the Phil - it was November 23rd last year ;)

Then a marketing campaign of Everton the first and only club in the city of Liverpool just to make there heads wobble off a bit more
