New Everton Stadium

Aye, that was my thinking but it's just a case of making sure the screening isn't just a case of pulling a curtain across. Needs to maintain a bit of integrity.

We're getting some practice in cladding would you settle for that?

Or some other fanciful idea.

Have the seats pivot flat like a game of guess who.

The underside of seats could easily have art work or something - maybe leave them blue so it justs blends in with tier.
If we sell more tickets just lock the seats back upright and away we go.

100% this. Whatever solution is adopted, just make sure it looks good!

Because it's my belief that having 15,000 empty seats will have a hugely detrimental effect on the atmosphere (and make us look daft, quite frankly). Whilst retractable roofs are not common in UK stadia just yet, I do not believe they are phenomenally expensive, and I do not believe a sliding roof would be either.

It would also make our stadium instantly known and recognised, which is absolutely what we want.

Personally don't see the point, when was the last time a game was called of at Goodison due to the pitch being unplayable

To be fair we don't currently play by the Mersey. During the winter a roof would be a good option as winds can be awful down there at times.
As long as the stadium is an enclosed 'bowl' type build, with a roof that extends out a decent distance over the stands, then I reckon it'll be fine.

Barca attendance 2014/16 (couldn't find 15/16 off hand). A 100k seater stadium is regularly at 70% or below. Some matches there is an entire Goodison missing. While of course being able to fill 100k seats to begin with is impressive, they must be able to hide the missing seats somehow, or the larger the stadium the less some empty seats matter.

I think it's more for other events, a large indoor stadium in the north of England might help pull in the big acts for stadium gigs etc.

The likes of Wembley, City of Manchester don't struggle to pull the big acts.. If you want an indoor gig go the Echo, the stadium will only be used for concerts in the summer when the weathers sound anyway..

This is a football stadium first and foremost, don't want it to be built as multi use stadium (we've all seen what can happen their)and a top football stadium will naturally attract plenty of extra revenue anyway..

As for the winds on the Mersey, I'm sure games in a big enclosed arena will be less open to the wind than games at goodison are now anyway, even if it is on the river.

In Spain teams get fined for not positioning the empty seats out of the view of the main camera, you could have the whole bullens empty at Goodison but it would look full on MOTD under these rules. Bit unfair on fans who are paying good money to watch a game and have to sit in a poor seat, while there are thousands of good ones empty imo.

In one of our THST meetings it was said that Levy fully investigated how worthwhile a roof was and found it would bring in no return at all and it's very rare games are called off for bad weather nowadays with how well drained and maintained the playing surfaces are.

On the other hand the retractable playing surface puts our new stadium in a unique position of being able to host a music concert a matter of hours before a game while others can't host anything at all really during the season.

Could be a good idea for Everton, would almost make the new ground a default venue in the north.
