New Everton Stadium

Hey, those were state of the art (probably) Sony Jumbotrons when Alan Sugar installed them in the 90s!

Thing is. sticking the screens up on the roof like that, they might be a long, long way up in a modern 60k stadium. I'd agree doing a Roma/Wembley isn't smart, so I'd go with putting them in the corners or having an NFL-stylee suspended video cube.

Or you could go nuts and do what Krasnodar have done
I'd like a 360 degree screen. AC Milan were going to have one in their new stadium before they binned it. That was in a rectangular stadium too so doesn't necessarily need to be a bowl to work. If we were to do it then you could have the Leitch thatch design static on it while play is going on and then showing replays announcements etc. before the game, HT and after.

I would fully expect a wrap-around LCD screen at the top of the stadium.

That looks very cool but we won't be having a permanent roof which is what makes that stadium really. One thing they have which is really cool is pitchside suites...

Those open air (but under a roof) suits work because it's American football, the San Siro has something similar but least theirs is behind glass. Just my luck I would be sitting comfortably about to slurp my hot mug of Bovril when a Philip Neville type crap house clearance boots the ball into my face...

Personally I think some of the screens we're seeing in the NFL are ridiculous (e.g. Atlanta Falcons roof wrap, Dallas Cowboys enormous video cube) and would be a huge distraction in a stadium hosting a sport that doesn't have timeouts every 30 seconds. I'm pleased the NFL compromised on this aspect for us - because if they had their way completely that's probably what we'd have ended up with. They're still going to be big, but not American-sized. According to one article: "Tottenham's video boards will be the largest in a European stadium, they won't touch the size of some in the U.S" (http://www.espn.co.uk/american-fb/s...ottenham-building-new-soccer-stadium-nfl-mind). I'm just about ok with that, but still hope they're not too huge.

I'd hate to see a videoboard arms race in England like they've now got in the States where every new NFL stadium has to do it bigger than the last. It's basically become a d1ck-size contest.

I agree to an extent, you don't want the screens to be a distracting feature. But you could integrate them in a way so that during actual play you are only using them for replays of certain events, the score and the time as they are used now. Then at half-time you could utilise the rest of it. As you say, the stop start nature of US sports means there is a lot of dead time for the fans whereas in football you don't need it. I certainly don't want a Krasnodar style one where you have the graphics from a 90's football arcade game buzzing round the stadium every two minutes.

I think there would be a way to do a similar type of screen as the AC Milan one though in a way that really adds to the stadium (and in the case of the Leitch thatch example allows you to nod to history without being overly burdened by it.

This new stadium (if it happens of course) will surely be multi functional and so something like a 360 degree screen would make it really stand out over the competition. For concerts, boxing matches, other sporting events etc.

Anyway, the screens are only a small part of it. If the stadium looks good and we get it built I'll be a very happy blue.

Hi fellas been on hols for 2 weeks what's the latest on our super duper new stadium can't be assed trawling through 2 weeks of posts, I no I leave myself open to all kinds of mad cap tomfoolery and wizard bantz but hey ho.

Moshiri, Dan Meis, Joe Anderson and various other board members have visited Bramley Moore Dock to view it and tipped off the press the day beforehand. They were also meant to visit Stonebridge Cross but no pictures have emerged from that and some say they never got out of their cars, others aren't sure they even went.

Was on the Belfast ferry this week so had a great view of the waterfront from the centre to BM dock and beyond. Took some pictures but they don't really do justice to the view.

From the ferry it's fair to say that any new stadium would dominate that end of the LW scheme. The sheer scale of a stadium compared to its surroundings would leave such an impact on anybody looking at that skyline. Quite simply it's an opportunity that must not be missed and will raise Everton's profile immeasurably.

For the benefit of any wools reading this :dodgy:, this is taken from the top end and shows distance to town....

This is pretty much opposite BM dock and shows how a stadium would dominate......

This is the view from town with the Dockers Clock and Stanley Warehouse visible in the far left.

The stadium must have dual advertising and dual TV gantry's.

Advertise to the UK via one side of the stadium , from one TV gantry
Advertise to other markets via the other side and other gantry.
