New Everton Stadium

Thanks Kithnou and Kiwi. So the hope would be that Goodison is not mortgaged and it's sale would contribute to the building of the new stadium.

I believe it's in the accounts that Goodison is heavily mortgaged.

If you rule out its future use as a footy stadium or as a supermarket I'm struggling to see how the land is worth much at all for any alternative use save for cheap housing.

Looking on the positive side here there's a chance to do something special.

I don't want a bowl. I want a f*** off home end as intimidating as possible with a 45* degree angle on the bugger!

Sod the aesthetics I just want something that's unique and utterly rocks on match day

Can we regularly sell out a 50,000 stadium in that area? And going forward, is that our realistic optimal attendance size? I'm assuming we could never regularly fill a 57,000 seat stadium, right?

For me 50K is excessive. 40K attendance is 80%. I dunno, I asked the question, and I don't have even close to an answer...I'm not living on the pulse of things being in America and all.

I have no doubt we could fill the odd derby/big game @ 50K...but that would be the exception to the rule.

Depends really, on success and global reach as much as anything. I think the option should be there to expand to that number.
But we've successfully been filling Goodison despite below par facilities and obstructed views. I think we'd get a number of sell outs per season and comfortably get mid 45,000s or thereabouts which would justify the expenditure.

I think we could, if we had no restricted views right now we would sell out all the time. People don't want to sit behind a post for the pleasure of saving a pound.

That re-assures me we could fill it or come close. We've always been a better supported club than Man City and their attendances went up by 12,000 in the first season of the new stadium from 34,000 to 46,000. They were an awful team back then too at risk of relegation every couple of seasons.

If we're still a top 7 club by the time we got a new stadium, we could definitely make use of a 50,000 seater stadium in my opinion.

Goodison Park as great as it is, is a nightmare for a non local to plan to come to and watch the game. Parking, getting in and out, getting tickets where u want them etc etc...bringing the kids or the whole family is just hard work tbh.

A new stadium will attract plenty more out of town fans to make the trip more often.

Anyone know IF this was all to go ahead. What sort of time span would we be looking to moving in?? About 5 yrs or longer/shorter?
